Re: Confessions

Post by Reyo »

My roommate gets back to the apartment from his first day of work:

"I just want to sit here, and do nothing..."
And he did...for hours...

I get back from my first drill weekend with my unit:

"Oh my God I had to get up early and do all of this rediculous army training, I want to go do things. Let's go out to eat. Let's go to the movies. LET'S GO SEE ALL THE MOVIES!"

It kinda scares me, because it suggests that the outsde work force is somehow more soul crushing than the military......either that or I'm just weird...

Nope. Outside workforce is soul crushing. The military needs you in fighting shape, gives you something approaching purpose, gives you something to be proud of. Outside workforce gives you 7.25 an hour.
Character is what you are in the dark.

7.50 if you're lucky like I was.
8 if you're even luckier

I think I might be a little bit racist toward Asians, despite (or perhaps because of) being half myself.

Like I would never insult someone for it or anything outward like that, and I would never think less of any individual for it, but if I walk into the library to find almost all of the computers being used by one huge group I kinda mentally grumble "Ugh, Asians, takin' up all my study space." (It was one big group of international students, I'm guessing)

I guess it really just comes down to stereotyping/bias, but I really only think that kind of stuff when they seem to be fitting the stereotype.

I have found myself thinking, "They are Legion," when down by UCLA's medical plaza because in the ratio of Asians to any other race there is a huge disparity.
Stuff goes here later.

I wonder why the phrase "We are legion" came to mean "There's a countless amount of us, we're super huge," 'cause normally a legion is a thousand people or something.

over time i'm sure we just got lazy and couldn't be arsed to remember how many were in a legion so just "a whole fuckton" became the meaning

I thinks it's just used as an hyperbole.

I always find it a bit amusing when I see lots of Asian tourists in my city and I'd like to know what they think of the place. There's something interesting about them traveling half the world to visit some quirky backwater country with a fraction of the population density of their home countries.

I actually saw two buses full of them today, once when I was biking to school and then when they came to check out the school as I was leaving.

The Castlevania boss? Symphony of the Night sure is popular.

So I think I might be a sadist when it comes to fear. My brother just showed me a video of one of my biggest phobias, only it was a video of somebody being scared by the phobia. I thought that video was hilarious.

I can't motivate myself to start on my homework because it involves drawing and I hate it. I always feel uncreative and stuff because I don't like doing traditional art but I just don't like it.
