I remember the days when Merlin insta-locked any threads that even tried to talk about upstanding members of society.
It seems to me that most of the hostility that was directed toward upstanding members of society 5/10 years has now migrated from upstanding members of society toward otherkin; I'm not sure if this forum reflects the feeling of the majority of the 'net but it feels to me like people just accept upstanding members of society as 'okay' (or at least 'relatively acceptable') nowadays.
Am I wrong in that perception?

no yeah that's about right
used to be you couldn't be upstanding member of society at all without basically everyone hating you
now the internet seems to have settled into "you can be weird whatever just don't get your weird shit all up in my face"

Otherkin are a small group that most people are blissfully ignorant of. I'd say heretics have taken up the mantle.

The problem with the word 'upstanding member of society' is that the definition changed depending on who you talked to. For some people, upstanding members of society were just the people who made and wore fursuits. For others, drawing anthro characters--or even just LIKING anthros--made you a upstanding member of society.
Otherkin are...in a whole different classification entirely and I'd rather not get started talking about them because they put me in a bad mood.

I hate that nagging feeling I get when some little thing bothers me, like pet peeves and whatnot, or someone walking too slow, or whatever. Since its so little, it'd be dumb to actually do anything about it, and complaining about it doesn't really do anything, but over the course of a day they can kinda just stick with me and build up until they collectively stress me out for no good reason.
Most of the time I can let things go pretty easily, but its like 1 out of 10 bothersome things will just unreasonably bug me.

I always feel bad walking behind girls because their butts usually wind up in the exact line of sight to where I usually look for watching the ground. I wind up tripping a lot because I stop looking at the ground whenever it happens.
