The fact that I actually have cheddar to spend continues to amaze me.
Every time I see something I want I go "daisies I wish i had mon-oh wait I have $400"

It's a strange existence when my life previously was approximately $10 a week that usually ended up getting spent on computer items that died.

I get 13 times as much cheddar in the same amount of time and I don't know how to react to it

Having too much cheddar, such a horrible problem.

I get paid the most I've ever gotten paid now, what with all this overtime and raise, yet all of my check was gone the same day I got it, with nothing spent on luxury.
Time to cash in on me helping my friends so much in the past, I guess... Feel really bad about that, though.

Lotharu, no offense, but in your shoes, Id have told the majority of the people you know to go fuck themselves a long time ago, it just seems like you struggle madly with a dozen anchors around your neck. Seriously, you have worked your booty off for these people, Im honestly in awe of you.

That is an incredibly insensitive thing to say.
Since this is garbled English, please refer to the brutal attack of confusion.

How so? The man has worked himself half to death for these people, how is that not admirable? He has gone above and beyond anything that friendship could ever entail, and he's barely gotten anything back for it.

Friendship isn't about what YOU get out of it, though.

Everything is about what you get out of it, its just a matter of it being relatively equivalent exchange, otherwise, its an unhealthy relationship.

I don't think I explained myself very well. Let's put it this way: Is it possible to be completely selfless all the time? No. Should you let people take advantage of you to show your generosity? Absolutely not! But should you try to be as understanding and selfless as you can to friends you genuinely care about? I think yes.

Eh, I haven't had to pay for food in a week or so, I'm content. Wasn't really complaining, just pointing out that it is cool to actually have cheddar.

Actually, as crass as Stranger is being, he's right. Friendships do tend to work on a level of reciprocity while "relationships" opperate on more altruistic levels of give and take. It's one of those "dark sides" of human psychology you always hear about.

Like you're not going to consider yourself friends with someone if all they do is show up unannounced, eat all of your food, and call you names. Of course now, you're not going to consider yourself in a relationship with such a person either...but that's more because the relationship aspect is more because simply being with that person is enough to fill any "needs" that you'd want out of a friendship.

Now, given, it's not physical stuff I'm referencing. I mean like your friend gives you emotional support, advice, other metaphysical benefits that you might not have access to alone. A lot of it is fairly subconscious.

Before anyone gets the wrong idea, I'm not trying to push my morals on anyone else here, this is just how I feel.
