AWKWARD ZOMBIE

A man decided to assault a theater during a screeing of "The Dark Knight Rises"; 12 were shot dead, many more were wounded. The police believe his name to be James Holmes, and the local police chief says that Holmes' apartment had been booby-trapped with explosives.

Was kind of afraid something like this was going to happen. But I figured no Batman fan would cross the line. Guess I was wrong.

Also, the suspect was reported as wearing a bane style mask, his car might have a bomb on it, and apparently they haven't detained him yet? That's what I've heard so far.

He has been apprehended. He didn't resist arrest.

He was apparently a candidate for a PhD in Neuroscience

Oh god I heard Zimmerman said it was "God's plan" that he shot Trayvon Martin. What the fuck is wrong with people.

That's fairly normal as far as smoking regulations go in most places, though usually it's a city/county thing around here since Texas has a lot of rural places where it'd be stupid to try to regulate this stuff (we have some "blink and you miss them" towns where the police department is one person, and they're usually also the mayor).

The fines and stuff actually seem a bit... weak all things considered. I know most health code violations with childcare centers here result in $1000+ fines, including one waged at the daycare where my niece used to go. A new caretaker cleaned the changing table with bleach as per cleaning regulations. The problem is that they didn't allow the bleach to dissipate/be removed from the table before they used it to change diapers. Luckily no one was hurt (only some clothing was faded), but the fine the center got exceeded $900 for endangering a child.

You can't even smoke on a rave anymore here.
