From how vague the thing they've supposedly infringed on, it sounds more to me like they're being patent trolls. Copyright an idea or process that is vague with no clear product being trademarked (EX. copyrighting the process of respiratory action to sustain life) -> when someone uses said process because there's no way to avoid doing so for a product and they actually engineered it to work then they're sued for sweet dosh by patent troll -> cycle of bullshit continues.
You should not be able to copyright processes or ideas.

Hahaha, crazy people happen all the time. The only reason a bunch of stories are all popping up at once is because once one particularly weird one gets popular on the internet, suddenly everyone's just like "OH EM GEE I KNOW ABOUT THIS THING THAT HAPPENED OVER HERE" And suddenly you've got everyone on twitter talking about how zombies are taking over their town.

That incident in Miami, when I heard it I thought the dude was on PCP because that was certainly a PCP thing to do. "Bath salts" is just hilarious.

Anti-bullying bill passed in Ontario. Among other things, schools can no longer forbid certain words in club names. Catholic schools immediately complained about their religion not being respected because kids can make clubs called Gay-Straight Alliances, and that's obviously terrible.
