The Current Events Thread
Re: The Current Events Thread
No. They started the whole media fiasco when there was bodaciously no evidence. Even now there's very little the public knows about. It's mostly hearsay, witnesses after the fact, and Zimmerman's phone call.
Stuff goes here later.

Re: The Current Events Thread
This is what ticks me off. Media exposure makes it difficult for people to understand the due process of the legal system. I have bodaciously no idea where the investigation or court case is right now.
Burn 'em to shreds, tear 'em to ashes.
Re: The Current Events Thread
Over-exposure of legal trials is a problem everywhere, and it's not going to stop unless people stop paying attention to sensationalist news. Media just follow the demand of the people unfortunately.

Re: The Current Events Thread
I'm having difficulties understanding how I can change my country for the better. I feel so insignificant, like I can't really do anything to help change the country into something better. I'm studying to be a teacher, so there's that, but still, I feel like I can't do anything even if I go out and vote.
Burn 'em to shreds, tear 'em to ashes.
Re: The Current Events Thread
Think of it in reverse. If everyone thinks that way, then yes, nothing will change and it is insignificant. If there's a lot of people who try to do something, they will do something. Easy as that.
Thinking what you're doing is insignificant and useless and you shouldn't do it will lead to it becoming insignificant and useless. Which you then in retrospect look at and think "See I told you, totally useless, good thing I didn't do shit to help it."

Turns out she's also the first openly lesbian cop for this department? Whether in just this particular town or the entire New Jersey state I'm not sure, the way it's worded in the article can be interpreted either way. But knowing this, you have to wonder if there's hidden motivation behind their actions.Syobon wrote:Wait what? WHAT?

Re: The Current Events Thread
It's really fucking depressing to see what kind of retards control the largest source of information for the majority of the people. Or maybe they're not retards, just sensationalist scumbags, but I think that's even worse.

I just don't read the news anymore.
Burn 'em to shreds, tear 'em to ashes.
Re: The Current Events Thread
Wrong way to go about it. Better to read/watch and if something catches your attention then do some research yourself.

Mitt Romney's wife doesn't think women deserve equal pay.
In case you needed more reason to severely doubt the sensibility of the current Republican party frontrunners

Honestly...
I can't take that seriously when the logo says "News that's almost reliable". That should be a clue. Secondly, this article makes it pretty obvious that it is fake.
