Re: The Current Events Thread
Short form: bill to help victims of domestic violence, republicans reject it because it would also help gays, trans*, and immigrants who are victims of dom. violence.

Re: The Current Events Thread
Illegal immigrants shouldn't be protected as citizens.
but yes, the republican party members in office right now are all old farts who are scared of weird new things.

Maybe not as citizens, but as humans.
Getting clobbered by someone for no good reason should be illegal no matter where you're from.

Re: The Current Events Thread
Yes, but people who are on vacation in the US don't get the protection with the law. All I am saying is that this is appeasing democrat votes, rather than actually being written to help people.D-vid wrote:Maybe not as citizens, but as humans.

Re: The Current Events Thread
Apparently police in LA County are no longer allowed to impound the cars of people driving without licenses (guess who those are). The given reason was that it would interfere with their income by not being able to drive around.
Strange how the people with licenses can have their cars impounded.

Re: The Current Events Thread
Seriously? You can't impound the cars of people without licenses? And the primary target of this bill is the large illegal immigrant population in LA? I am all for the human rights of illegal immigrants, but to get more protection under a law than a US citizen is ridiculous.Madican wrote:Apparently police in LA County are no longer allowed to impound the cars of people driving without licenses (guess who those are).
