When a youtube vid gets a lot of views soon after it is uploaded, it goes through a brief process where those views are "verified". Usually this occurs around 300 views. During this period, the counter does not increase.

Virginia Tech shootings: Two killed, suspect at large
December 8, 2011 | 11:12 am

A suspect remained at large Thursday afternoon on the campus of Virginia Tech after a police officer and at least one other person were shot dead, the university said.

During a traffic stop on campus, the suspect shot and killed a Virginia Tech police officer and then fled on foot through a nearby parking lot.

A second person was later found dead in that parking lot, the university said.

The university said the status of the shooter was unknown and the school remained on lockdown.

A university alert released after the shooting described the possible shooter as a white male wearing gray sweat pants, a gray hat with a neon green brim, a maroon hoodie and backpack.

What is it about Virginia Tech that makes people want to shoot other people?

Sorry, probably too soon for stupid jokes.
The A in this case stands for Armageddon. As in, Armageddon a boner because this plane has a fucking HOWITZER sticking out of it.

Idk, I find it kind of odd that such a thing would happen again so soon.

On the bright side, at least this guy only got 2 people and not a lot more

You know. I love this thread. Not because I love hearing about what is going on in the world, (but that's pretty nice) But I can always check on this thread, and find something great for some Current Event thing in my History class.

So apparently in France, parents are so unhappy with one of the teachers ranting constantly at their children, they decide to take the headmistress and a few teachers hostage until the teacher would be sacked.

It was apparently agreed that he would be transferred but they want a written proof of the promise.

How do our European members feel about the Prime Minister of Britain veto-ing changes to the EU treaty?

Britain is pretty much on its own now but I think our PM did the right thing by us.

French workers have a tradition of kidnapping bosses during industrial dispute.
That is... insane.

It's also not true. It's not a tradition. It has happened a few times (two or three times in the last 5 years, as far as I remember) before when desperate employees didn't see any other way to be heard. The few times it happened, too, the hostages were not under the threat of violence or weapons, and were treated relatively well, they had water and food and could pretty much do anything except get out.
Basically, employees just came in and locked the doors. I don't condone these acts, but it's understandable how desperate people would do this to gather attention on their situation when the media doesn't give a damn. It's also worth mentioning that these "kidnappings" happened when the companies were about to shut down factories and fire great numbers of employees with almost no compensation, most of them in order to move their production facilities to foreign countries.
