Re: Paleontology
THAT'S TOO GENERAL.
Dinosaurs are reptiles, but it doesn't work backwards. It's like saying a rectangle isn't always a square, but a square is always a rectangle. Dinosaurs are a sub-set of reptiles, and modern birds are the descendants of dinosaurs. Synapsids are NOT dinosaurs. Never never never. Synapsids cover mammal-like reptiles which eventually grew into mammals.
THIS IS SO EXCITING GUYS KEEP IT UP.

Never said anything about Synapsids being Dinosaurs.
I said Synapsids are Reptiles and Mammals.
Never stated they were dinosaurs.
But yeah, were all Eukaryotes, all based from basic cells that branched off into the rest of the classification table.

WE MIGHT AS WELL TALK ABOUT NORTH KOREA HERE.
But yeah, you think a large amount of Dinosaurs had feathers? Such as theropods?

Re: Paleontology
No, I think it was mainly dinosaurs like the Raptors that developed feathers.

Re: Paleontology
Indeed. I'm not sure how far the feather trait goes. A feathered Stegosaurus would just look weird as hell. It's definitely a Theropod thing, at least.
Re: Paleontology
I remember watching a dinosaur thing on the discovery channel that said appurently T-rex had feathers too.
He can pull it off though.

Re: Paleontology
Feathers probably originally developed as a means for an animal to keep warm, so may have been prevalent across a wide range of saurid species.
Feathers as a means of flight undoubtedly developed completely through beneficial mutational accident, as is true with all evolution.
