Re: Paleontology
T. rex doesn't have shit on Spinosaurus. The turkey neck seems a little too much, though.
Re: Paleontology
Agreed.
I've always wondered exactly how much liberty "dinosaur" artists take when illustrating the creatures...

I'm pop flyin' to see that everyone is being all progressive about this. Also, this thread will probably be the main reason for my visits to this site forever.
Kiyske - I TRIED TO FIND A GOOD PICTURE OF THAT THING AND I COULDN'T.

Both Carcharodontosaurus and Giganotosaurus lose to the almighty Spinosaurus!

Re: Paleontology
On pleurodon: when is a dinosaur not a dinosaur but instead a prehistoric aquatic reptile?
Same goes for pteranodons (not being dinosaurs).
I personally don't get why palaeontologists get their knickers in a bunch about this.

Re: Paleontology
Skeletal structure, blah blah blah. I don't know the specifics, but I imagine it's the same reason Tuataras aren't lizards.
Okay, I looked it up. Dinosaurs are diapsids (two big holes in the skull behind the eyes) with an upright stance. Crawlers, fliers, swimmers, and oddly-numbered skull holes are all excluded.
Dinosaurs are racist.

Re: Paleontology
I play my trap card, Dimetrodon!

Get the joke?
Pteranodons and Pliesosaurs have certain features that seperate them from Dinosaurs. They share more features common with reptiles than dinosaurs.
