Starting my bi-yearly reread of my favourite books. I've already been through the Butlerian Jihad prequels, 1/3 of the way there.

Just picked this up. I ordered all of Scott Pilgrim off Amazon and am waiting for those to arrive in the mail, but I really like Bryan Lee O'Malley's art style so I picked this up to see what hes like and to keep me entertained before Scott Pilgrim arrives.

I really like it so far. Its pretty good.

Anyone know of any good Apocalypse books? Not like, during the event but the aftermath and survival.

The Dark Tower series.

Its not strictly ALL post-apocalyptic, but its great. Also The Stand by Stephen King which I have not yet read but its about a superflu wiping out life in an alternate America.

Dark Tower is great, I just finished it. Its epic. The Gunslinger, The Wastelands, and The Dark Tower have a post-apocalyptic feel to them for sure. The others are sorta modern/western. But they are still good. 7 of them total. They can be long too so it will keep you entertained for a while.

I've read the Stand, uncut as well. The Dark Towers don't really interest me as it seems a little like, farfetched. I'm talking survival like STALKER or Fallout esque here.

Yes I know STALKER doesn't take place after a holocaust.

It's the setting, eviroment and the character themes.

Dies the Fire, Protectors War, and A Meeting at Corvallis.

The first may be the only one that you're looking for as the others get set more into politics and warfare afterward. Then the new ones are all fantasy setting stuff with a touch of science fiction.

I recently read The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.

Image

The story is about a game of survival, in which twenty-four contestants are locked inside a huge arena resembling some kind of natural environment (like a forest or an icy plain) and have to struggle to survive. Whoever manages to survive the longest is the victor; the contestants are allowed to kill each other. This game of survival is known as the Hunger Games

However, the story is also about the country of Panem, located at the former site of the USA, which consists out of fourteen cities, the Capitol and Districts 1 through 13. The Capitol is inhabited by the rich and wealthy; the thirteen Districts have to supply the resources needed to keep up the flamboyant lifestyle of the Capitol, and the general populace in these Districts is very poor. About seven decades before the story begins the Districts rioted and tried to fight themselves free from the Capitol, which responded swiftly and destructively; twelve Districts were conquered, the thirteenth utterly destroyed.

That is the reason for the Hunger Games; it's the Capitol's way of reminding the twelve remaining Districts what happened the last time they rioted. And that is why every year in every District one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 are randomly selected to participate in the Hunger Games.

Believe me, you won't regret reading this book. And while you're at it you can also read the first sequel, Catching Fire; the second sequel should be available later this year.
