I did. RightLeftRight quoted it.
I mean the parts not pertaining to buddhism :(

let me ask again: are you still inclined to generalize a whole group of people that they are all just crazy or on hallucinogens? that's just as bad as that guy thinking hitler is the embodiment of evil.

RE: That France Muslim veil thread which derailed into "Is Homosexuality a choice"

Personally, I don't think it is a choice. And Star mentioned quite an important point in that people get turned off of heterosexuality, which brought me back quite a long way.

Let's just say that I was always harassed for not finding girls interesting, both at school and at home. My family would always joke about me having crushes on female celebrities and it was really annoying, embarassing and hurtful at the same time. I remember my Sister very clearly chanting "Decker wants to marry Cat Deelyyy~!" (Replace Decker with IRL name where appropriate)

This probably led into my homosexuality in later days. However, I still never chose.

Yeah it's def. not a choice. But unfortunately, uncovering the genetic basis for it makes it "correctable," which sucks for the people who are, you know, gay right now. Really, I don't think I would be against it if it was a fixable condition, so long as the people that didn't get that opportunity in the womb weren't treated any...worse. Decker, like you said in the France thread, it's not like I woke up one day and was like "I am really hungry for some cock right now."

Because, ew, why would I pick that?

I really just don't believe in environmental factors, mostly because all the possible ones have been proven false. Overbearing mothers? Hard to prove. Single mothers? Not all boys raised by a single mom are gay. Same goes for single fathers.
please stop that right now

An "over the top nationalist"? I burst out laughing here! I mean, he wasn't quite as The Greatest Evil that you get from the impressions of him, but if you think the genocide was the only reason he was considered evil, you've got a whole lot of news coming your way.

And while we're on the topic, one thing I never liked was that you rarely, if ever, hear about Hitler's good side. I mean, it's always "Hitler was the greatest evil ever", but you never hear anyone pointing out that he was pretty much a genius! I mean, his military strategy was very thorough and intelligent, he made massive progress in healthcare and automobiles, he was brilliant at actually developing Germany, and his social intelligence was world-known! To the point that most Germans did actually like him, despite all the bad things he did! ...and that's another thing you never hear about Hitler.

Also, homosexuality? Well, ultimately, I think all factors of things like beauty, sexual preference, attachment... all those sort of things are... well, factors of the environment. Which means that they are choosable, in the sense that as far as the sub-concious is concerned, your regular concious thought (aka: thinking to yourself) is part of the environment too. Meaning you could choose who you find sexy and what you find repulsive just by thinking it a lot.
It also helps that I can actually do that. That's always a contributing factor to believing if something is true.
But in the same sense, most people don't know how to do that, so it's not a choice for them. And to point out just how much "most" is here, I bet that, despite that I'm normally pretty trustworthy, you're thinking "There's no WAY you can control your sub-concious like that!"

TL;DR: it's not a choice for you, but it's a choice for me. I laugh at you and your relationship problems while insulting your intelligence!
And also means that I can genuinely honestly say Sailor Moon is the most beautiful person I have ever seen.

The environmental factors I was refering to were things like beatings, molestation, and rape. Not that I have any proof or have done studies these have any kind of affect on a person's sexuality, but the majority of people I know that have had to deal with that have gone for the gender opposite of the one that abused them. Whether they were born into that sexuality already and their experience reinforced it, or their experience negatively affected their view of the gender, I can't say.

Did you just, cut off all the points he raised after that for shits and giggles? Or did you actually not read them? Because the points he brought up are kind of the opposite of "being all talk".

In my opinion, he was obviously an evil man, or at the very least, a man that did some terrible things. But I acknowledge he did do some good and the world would be a much different place if he hadn't of been in it. It's a trade off, I guess.

While we're talking about Hitler, what about Stalin? Or has he already been brought up and the topic wilted?

Edit: Le Great Handsome Oppressor made me realize I always hear the argument homosexuality (or bisexuality, or transexuality, etc.) is always a choice, yet I never hear people argue heterosexuality is a choice either. Is the argument "being different is a choice", or is it just never brought up?
