lolwut.
I'm pretty daisies deep into the GBLT community, and I've most certainly not seen or heard anything of that variety.

Okay, we are trying this again. Hopefully, after having to delete 5 goddamn pages of all of your stupid off topic bullshit, hopefully that won't happen again. This is probably stupid to hope for.
I unlocked it because I could see where the France Bans' Muslim Veils thread was headed, and after Karilyn's post, there was going to be problems.
Things will come up in the news that cause controversy, so don't worry about letting the topic sink, just wait for something good. This doesn't mean LOL PENIS INNUENDO JOKES when someone brings up something sexual. Lastly, if you don't like something or are against or what have you, try to cite examples instead of just making a "i hate x or y" post. People tend to listen better to hate when you have a good point behind it, just a tip.
Don't fuck up this time.

How if something is "discrimination", it is automatically bad.
Pretty much any lawsuit can be won if someone can connect the problem to discrimination.
The thing is, discrimination isn't necessarily a bad thing in every case. For example, you know how there are different puplic bathrooms for men and women? That is discrimination. But, even in cases when the discrimination is justified, people still win lawsuits with that excuse.
I feel like it won't be long before we get things like "I am suing my employer because they fired me because I couldn't do my job as well as everyone else, and that is discrimination"
Let's crack this one open with a story from a few days ago.
US Senator Harry Reid got in a bit of trouble for a quote he said, where Reid said that America liked Obama because he was a light skinned negro with no negro dialect. Probably a fair assessment, but a terrible choice of words. Obama immediately turned around and was like "hush hush, no big deal, everybody ignore what Reid just said."
For the most part, it annoys me. It seems to me that it's painfully obvious that Obama brushed it aside, because Harry Reid is a democrat, a member of Obama's own political party. And right now, Democrats control exactly 60% of the Senate, which gives them a few special powers. If Reid was to quit his job over that statement, Obama would be significantly weaker politically.
It bugs me, that if it had been ANYBODY else besides a democratic senator; that everybody would be up in arms, throwing a fit trying to get the guy out of political power.
Political parties, and bipartisanship, has reached such a level of bullshit.
...
...
...
As for the second thing that bugged me about that statement? Goddamn, as far as I'm concerned, there is no "negro dialect" at least not in the business world. You have simply educated English (which varies slightly depending on which English speaking country you live in), or uneducated English.
Uneducated, grammatically incorrect, mispronounced english has no business being in the business world. I don't care if it is "negro" or if it is county white hick trailer trash slang. Any person who would speak such slang in a professional setting deserves no respect.
There's a right way to speak English, and there is a wrong way to speak English.
I'm sick and fucking tired of people saying when a black person speaks correct English, that they are "talking like a white person." Fuck, that. They aren't speaking like a white person, they are speaking like an educated person.
Oh lord, my grammar in that last paragraph completely broke down from my rage
GODDAMNIT!

Okay, so the lawsuit example was kind of stupid.
I didn't really feel like looking up an actual example because I am lazy.
BUT, the main point of my post was I hate how discrimination is automatically a bad thing no matter the context.
I mean, it seems like it's only a bad thing because it is generally used in contexts where the discrimination isn't justified, but in some cases the discrimination makes sense but is still considered bad just because it can be called discrimination.
For example, (and I admit this isn't the best example) my 8th grade algebra teacher was involved in a lawsuit for years because he once helped a mentally disabled kid off a bus.
Edit: I am terrible at explaining things so you guys probably have no idea what I am talking about and I am coming across as an asshole.

Well I think the problem here is the definition of discrimination. Zink's right an wrong, if I'm getting this right. Discrimination is just a word, however bad a rep it has, that describes the separation of things based on physical or sometimes psychological differences. I think it's skewed these days, at least from what I see in the US, by people pulling the race card when they are accursed of something. This isn't always the case, but just one thing I've noticed.
Edit: The thing I see Zink mad about is how people handle discrimination these days, not the definition in itself. If that helps.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, me and Zink's posts are really one in the same complaint.
Racism is a word that's thrown around in politics all the time, often when it is completely irrelevant, and frequently with double-standards being applied to the opposite political party.
People using the idea of "racism" for political gain, and often even in a racist way. It's so confusing and convoluted really, and it's so much bullshit.
Zink wrote:BUT, the main point of my post was I hate how discrimination is automatically a bad thing no matter the context.
The denotation of the word "discrimination" has nothing bad about it. It's simply the ability to tell the difference between two things.
I can discriminate between two round orange fruits, and know that one is a tangerine, and the other is a nectarine.
However, the word over the years has picked up a negative connotation. What can you do about it? The answer? Absolutely nothing. Just accept that is what discrimination has become.

THIS SO MUCH.
Aaaaahahhaa oh wow I see a mistake I made.
I've always heard the word Discrimination as a word used a lot for racial tension cases, so I guess that's why when I hear someone is "Discriminating" against something else, it sounds bad.
ANNNNNDDDD HERE'S YOUR SIGN I made a mistake in that France with the muslims thread when I referred to Karilyn. I apologize.
