So I think that's why people might have taken your post seriously.
Sorry. I guess this particular argument just brings such irritation on my part, I've forgotten how to fully debate it correctly. If it were anything else, I probably wouldn't have said something like that. And for that, I apologize.

Yes Deck that's better but you didn't have to change it. ahaha

No worries. If the debate begins to irritate you, take a break from it for a moment until you've got your cool back and can reply calmly.

I can totally understand Christians getting sick and tired of being bunched up with Exhibit A. I wouldn't want to be put in the same basket as those guys if I were a Christian.

But my point is is that this is no small scale thing. There is enough of a population of this type of Christian in America which enables them to have that amount of power.

The people that absolutely dead-stop refuse to learn about Homosexuality, or refuse to talk to any homosexuals with the predetermined notion that they are sinful. Those are the kinds of Christians I'm referring to, and those are the kind that I don't like purely because of how close minded they can be, even if their children are gay / athiest, they refuse to acknowledge the relationship and in a lot of cases, the children are disowned.

Though this Forum is in fact incredibly special. Everybody here has such an open mind, and there are people from all walks of life, that it's just a nice place to be yourself and nobody will judge you for it.

People usually get judged for being assholes because they've been assholes.

Gasp.

I meant, if someone said "I'm Christian", everyone would go "Mkay" and not really care

I'm a-okay with all beliefs, or lack thereof, as long as they keep it to themselves. but yeah, I also hate it when people try to force their beliefs on me, and those people on the extremes of both sides, who completely generalize and/or antagonize a whole group of people.

Honestly though, everything in America comes down to religion and cheddar. I hate how much religion is involved in politics, government, and state affairs. Thomas Jefferson would be ashamed.

That is exactly why I've grown tired of the arguments against homosexuality. I've heard the most ignorant things spouted out as if they were actual arguments and anytime you try and open up their mind in any manner whatsoever, they will shove you away and remain blissfully ignorant. The hardcore Christians that I've argued with are so stubborn it's not even worth getting into. I'm almost always ashamed to be associated with a group of such close-minded people.

I even know a guy who told me that he thinks all homosexuals should be shipped off to an island to themselves. I was at a loss for words. It's truly stunning.

But I do agree that you guys are way more open-minded than a lot of the folks I know around here and you're definitely fun to talk to.

Sounds like a party. :awesome:
I'm kidding.

This. Religion has no place in politics, it only serves as a fishing line for you to swing votes from people who have the same religion as you.

People should be voted into office based on what they aim to achieve, not on their skin colour or their religion.

I'm tempted to say Obama breaks the mould, but there are black people that voted for him just because he's black

My parents are kind of atheist-ish, but they never tried to force any kind of belief upon me. I was just sort of allowed to run around and decide what I believe in, and I believe there's God but not in the large bearded man sense. I just believe in a generalized good vs. evil, and I'm a basically good person so I think I'm good. =x I mean there's the whole gay thing, but it's not like I murder people.

On a related note, my ambiguously gay crush and I have a class together this semester, wish me luck.

Remember, if you don't like the way Obama is doing things, you're racist!

OMGGGGEEE Good luck hun <33 I love seeing gay relationships blossom
Like when me and my sister see a gay couple holding hands, we daaaw everytime~

Well Firestorm, those are the kind of people that really should not have any energy wasted on trying to change their ideals, as much as it pisses you off that they think such things towards Homosexuals and other minorities.

Sometimes, you need to let the flame die out on it's own and just continue living a life with minimal conflicts like that.
