So, apparently, in classical Rome, suicide was considered an honourable and brave thing to do. I've always thought of it as selfish and weak, a "suicidee" leaves behind traumatized and depressed people that were close to them since they just couldn't bare it. I am strongly against suicide, but I'd like to hear other opinions: it's just one of those really interesting (to me) subjects about the way the mind works.

Suicide was considered an honor or a last attempt to not die dishonorably if you didn't die during a great war. This includes ye olde Japan, obviously.
In modern times, I really doubt you can find a good reason to commit suicide for zeh honors.
I'm completely against it but It's a choice still. I don't think we should have a right to take someone's choice away, even if I'm really against it. It's their life.
If I see someone I love that's suicidal, I'll definitely try my best to convince them out of it. But ultimately, it comes down to the person's choice. We can only hope they take the advice that life is worth living to heart.

no way! stupid generalizations!Plasma wrote:It's pretty obvious that the reason that women get insulted less for playing as a male character is because:
1: Most videogames force you to play as a male character
2: People always insult the opposite gender (not counting homosexuals or asexuals) notably less than the same gender. And most gamers are male.

I do the same with males. I think the reasoning people use for playing the opposite gender is funny. "I don't want to have to stare at a guy the whole time". Well depending on the game the gender will probably not affect you either way. Unless dranei or trolls get you off. Plus you are usually zoomed out and in armor so it doesn't matter.Miss StarSeed wrote:If given the option, I always play as females. It doesn't bother me to play as either gender, I just... instinctively choose my own. I think I'm self-inserting constantly.
