Maybe I'm just stupid, but I don't really see this issue with buying used games? Someone bought the game, and the company already got paid for it. I mean, I guess it stops the company from getting more cheddar, but it's not really detrimental.

No, I understand what you mean. But I find it annoying when someone buys a used copy of a game that has just come out and the only difference between the two is... two dollars.
If someone MUST FIND IT IMPERATIVE to save cheddar by getting two dollars off when buying a newly released game, they probably shouldn't be buying them.

Yeah, the two dollars this is just ridiculous. If you need to save cheddar that badly, you shouldn't be buying videogames.

Not stuff like SNES games, but stuff like PSP, DS, PS3, Wii, and XBOX360 games, and they heavily emphasize the sale of anything which is currently selling new, specifically because they make the biggest profit if they can sell a used game for $45-$55 a month after it came out, instead of only $19.99 2-3 years later.
Which is an absolutely 100% direct cut out of the developers profit.
Actually, in my county alone there are three used game stores, each containing SNES, N64s, First Gen. Gameboys, you see where I'm going with this. Do not assume too much from someone you do not know, Karilyn.
In any case, yes that is where the cheddar lies for the most part; you see, they need this currency to continue running their business. However with most of those stores, they sell the new and the old side by side, (i.e. Gamestop.) And if there's not too much of a price difference with the first 2-3 months, which there hardly ever is, then the consumers as a whole will be valuing the new holographic foil-wrap toilet paper that the game comes in. When the game has been used, it lacks the luster and is ignored more often than not. Especially by the younger generation these days. We know how to bargain shop, those of us affected by the recession, but younger kids only look at the outside of things to proclaim "WANT" Parents will 8 times out of 10 buy the game new to appease their child, less the child feels like their getting hand-me-downs, which is all that used games are.
So 25.75% of people are buying used, so what? These games have been purchased and are now circulating cheddar through the economy even further. There's no bad thing in this. 20% of software is being ripped for free, not paying the manufacturers and not circulating any cheddar unless people begin to buy bootleg even more than now. I wonder what's doing more damage after all? Maybe not to the industries making the game, but as a whole.

Awwwwwww. That makes me want to go to assorted local Gamestop tournaments and absolutely destroy all the sweet adorable children with my perfectly EV trained team.
Er... Um
I mean... put those mean teenage bullies in place who would dare spoil children's fun for no reason other than to stroke their egos? And encourage the children to not be ashamed of having fun? Yeah, um, that's what I meant.
