Tuxedo Mask's best friend is actually quarantined with swine flu right now. When we tell people that they freak the fuck out and don't let us finish "... because his also has asthema and this attack on his immune system could kill him." It's not to protect us from him, it's to protect him from us.

Is this a fat joke? It is true that I wanted to eat leaves after watching the Land Before Time.

Yeah, asthma puts a lot of people at risk, or so I hear. Our calculus teacher has it, so if anyone even shows a meager sign of getting sick, she lets them skip without a problem.
please stop that right now

God, I love attention-grabbing headlines.

These court cases happen all the time, as a last resort by questionable doctors in power. This will likely rule in favor of the nurses. HIPAA has a clause that grants exemptions to whistle-blowers who require private health information.
Hello world; goodbye planet.

It depends on how bad you have it. I have asthema, but it's very mild, so my only concern is really keeping within my limits and carrying a puffer with me just in case.

His friend has REALLY bad asthema, and an allergy to cats. We have to be wary if we visit him and have cat hair on our clothes, because even just that can put him in the sack for a few days. It's srs bsn, regardless of swine flu. But adding the flu, swine or not, is still not very helpful to his health. So yeah, the doc is worried he could die if his immune system was put under anymore stress than it already is.

Four kids in our school has Swine Flu at the moment, including one of my friends. But they'll only close the school if the teachers start getting it.
Oh god, TONS of kids are out because of of the Flu or some kind of sickness.

My dad, as paranoid as he can get, has told me not to get the Flu shot this year because he thinks there are too many risks to come with getting it.

I always try to get all my vaccinations. I'm in a very high risk group, so I can't afford to miss any of them.

No it's just that if you eat a lot of stuff, namely all this stuff that isn't exactly ideal for your body you'd build up a great immune system

That theory would only work if you assumed that someone spit in every meal you had. And then you ate it off the floor.

A balanced diet with lots of vitamins and proteins used to catalyze the breakdown of diseases would be more important at this stage of life (eating stuff off the floor to build up an immune system is the technique most children use, which works surprisingly well).

My mother explained to me how my having eaten a lot of foreign objects and food off the ground as a kid was what probably made my Immune System so effective. I don't often get sick so I believe what you say.

My biology Teacher two years ago says she doesn't understand how her friends who have babies will practically bathe their babies in Purell and other antibiotic substances thinking it'll keep them healthy for long. I lol'd when she told us this.

I actually have asthma too, but it isn't too serious. But every now and then (maybe about 2 times a year), I have some bad asthma attacks, sometimes requiring me to go to the hospital. But I can at least be thankful it doesn't affect my everyday life.
You are now manually breathing.

Yep! Getting exposed to all those germs early makes a world of difference.
