If I'm correct, the number one cause of wars would be religious dispute.
What causes religious dispute? The intolerance towards one other religion just for the small fact that it is different from yours.
Intolerance in general.
All religions are basically opinions on what you believe created us and why.
Religion has to do with universal purpose and since something like that is so opinionated, no one has the grounds to say you are wrong because we can never be completely sure. This is where faith comes in.
As stated so many times before, you either got it or you don't. Intolerant people need to just get over that fact and learn that by being more accepting to others regardless of their beliefs, you will hopefully continue the chain reaction of true peace.
Karilyn, I really hope you learn from this because by continuing your crusade of intolerance and hate towards religious people who have the freedom to believe a God, you will further advocate hatred and prejudice.
I'm sure you mean well and your intentions are good, but saying such mean things and feeling such animosity about religious people won't make things any better.
Hate begets Hate.
So guys, Wanna talk Politics?

i think, a lot of the time, religion is just used as an excuse to do something. take that away and people will just find something else to fight over.
ANYWAYS. so there was this marriage-dude in lousiana who refused to marry an interacial couples. while that's obviously racist and a horrible thing to do, do you think he had the right to do so?

People will always find something to fight about. But it'd be nice if those fights wouldn't blow up into stupid wars or total hatred.
Your question: lol no
If it was me, I'd go against that law, even if it would jail me.

It's possible that he refused them for other reasons, though. I don't know the whole story though, so I could be wrongAme no Akai wrote:I don't think I meant what I think I meant.Ame no Akai wrote:I think he's required to do so by law.
So, yeah, I think he should.
What I meant was: I think he's required to marry those people by law. So he should marry them. And he can't refuse because they're not the same ethnicity.

I think you are only required by law if you are a justice of the peace.Ame no Akai wrote:I think he's required to do so by law.
If you are a private religious individual, I think you are still allowed to refuse to marry a couple for any reason.
I'm not soulless. I have plenty of souls. They're just not mine.

Whatever happens in their life later on really shouldn't be his concern unless they come to him specifically for relationship advice.
Sure, my parent's relationship isn't a good example of interracial marriages lasting, but my and all my siblings are fine now.
His intention probably is good, but every marriage has a good chance of getting a divorce and breaking up and damaging the child. He might as well just stop marrying people all together.
Also, treating them like they have a lesser chance of lasting isn't exactly giving the relationship an equal chance like any other marriage.

I see where he's coming from but ultimately it's not well thought out and just sounds like an excuse he thought up to not sound like a racist.
Indeed, inter racial children might have a harder time. But every child has that chance. He should be encouraging the interacial couples to think hard on their responsibilities if he believes their children have a higher chance of suffering.
Not to mention, refusing to marry the couple isn't going to make them break up, and they might have children out of wedlock. Then that's just another thing that might be used against the child, on an off chance. But I myself am a "bastard child" and did actually have people tell me I was a sin when I was younger. It's not fun.
