Eh, adoption doesn't really hurt anyone. It's closely monitored so that psychos don't end up with kids, and that psychos get their kids taken away (which, as awful as that is, it's usually when they try and seriously harm the child, far beyond corporal punishment). I believe -- and I stole this off Spore, because I'm such a massive faggot -- that every person should be able to do what they want AS LONG AS it does not interfere with another person's rights.
Well, in regards to religion, I think it's fine. Everyone should have something they believe in that makes them pop flyin' and gives them hope, if they want to. Personally, I'm not religious at all. But I think everyone should believe in what they want as long as they don't try to force their beliefs on others. That's when things become messy. So really, it's more a matter of free will than religion.
Anyways, I've never seen anything wrong with adoption. I'm surprised that there are people who are against it! That seems... odd. Sure, it puts stress on some children when they find out that they aren't with their real parents, but how much worse would it be for them to not have anyone to take care of them at all?

Orphans should stay in the orphanages... Breed with each other and then die, leaving their child an orphan, thus continuing the cycle until they're all related; then they should look to the other orphanages for breeding. When every orphan in the world is related, then they will have taken over- but who will they put in charge? There is only one answer. A strong leader who can rise up and take charge, who isn't afraid to assert their power but at the same time be caring.
Who could this person be? There is only one answer: Me. I will build a time machine after starting my orphan plan, going into a future where orphans are the dominant race! I'll be hailed as a hero because I was the one who implemented the orphans-interbreeding program, thus ensureing their region over mankind as the top species! I will rule! ME!

Well, I didn't even know people where anti-adoption, but then there was this guy I was talking to who was. So his mom has undiagnosed with... schizophrenia, I think, and she had abusive boyfriends and the house was disgusting and filthy and he and his sister got taken away by child services and ended up in a very nice home.
But he was against adoption because he thought that, basically, the government and community should be responsible.

[5:06:23 PM] Yeili: this is kind of cool, i've beaten a murderer in mario party.

They kind of already are responsible, in a way... That doesn't make sense. Oh well, I guess we'd have to hear the whole side of their story to understand it regardless.Bacon wrote:Well, I didn't even know people where anti-adoption, but then there was this guy I was talking to who was. a quick google search found these results:

the people seem to making the point that adoption hurts the children being adopted, as they think it's just legalized lies and causes trauma among the adopted.
i think it's better to seriously consider the situation from the child being adopted's side.
of course, we don't want children growing up with neglectful or abusive parents, but adoption is a pretty extreme response.
