I feel the same way Leoj.
I feel religious beliefs are like opinionated beliefs on the purpose of the universe so I usually hold a dislike for religious debates since it seems like wasted breath.
I dunno. I guess it's like when people argue over each others opinions on if they thought a movie or a book was good or bad.

Speaking of bible movies, I really really love the Prince of Egypt.BANANA wrote:I'd watch it just for Moses. He's awesome.

It's like what a user said earlier in this thread, Atheists and Religious people know just about as much as the other when it comes to why we were created so who's to say who's wrong on what created us and why?
It's people's choice to believe what they wish to believe and I feel religious debates are just talking about how one belief is wrong and how their belief makes more sense.
Like what Mander said, who can preach the loudest.
So maybe we can debate on something more constructive?

Yeah, in regular philosophical debates, the debated points, while often informative of a person's opinions, very rarely actually affect the opinions of the other people. I only come in when either someone just made some very flawed reasoning (eg: saying "there can't be a god since evil exists" is not acknowledging that a god may be evil, or that evil is somehow necessary for life, or that their own moral values are wrong) or when something isn't actually a philosphy debate but a debate about the teachings of a specific religion!

I can understand that, Plasma. I don't have a problem with that at all.
You handle yourself quite well in these religious topics. :]
What's a GSA Meeting?

I love that movie. The songs always get stuck in my head when I watch it, and I loved the animations when Moses was dreaming as though he was also in the paintings.Tall-Hatted Yanimae wrote:Speaking of bible movies, I really really love the Prince of Egypt.BANANA wrote:I'd watch it just for Moses. GSA = Gay Straight Alliance meeting, maybe? But since it we're on the topic of religion right now, I might be wrong.

No, a lot of Gay-Straight(-and sometimes bi and tran) Alliances miss the point and just become glorified singles clubs, or places to "hook up". It can really depend on who's running it though, but if you feel like it's just a place to check out your prospects, it's probably not a good sign you'll open up and talk about your feelings there or anything.

You.... You don't hang around many Catholics, do you?Plasma wrote:You're generalising again!
