I always thought phasing, like Kitty Pryde, was pretty awesome.

It's one of those weird non-mainstream powers that looks like you could make a lot of fun and useful stuff with it.

I'd like to alter my physical appearance and abilities by stealing genetic material and integrating it into my own genome, also by absorbing technology into myself and/or bolting it onto myself.

Maybe your super power is just being incredibly ugly? :awesome:

I'm a fan of telekenisis. It's so versatile and you could mess with people so easily.

Uhh since we kind of randomly got into story characters and super powers, I was thinking of creating a character who draws power from blood. Not his own, but only the spilling of the blood (most likely killing) of other creatures. I thought it might be interesting to have an innocent character stumble upon the ability and have to decide if using the powers to help others justifies hurting living things. I'm not sure what exactly the blood would allow him to do though. :\

Well, as much as this thread is meant more for serious, delicate, sensitive topic, might be a good idea. I'll be lenient on this as long as its kept serious, though. Nothing wrong with giving criticism to someone, though there is a line between constructive criticism and being a dick.

Anything to do with blood makes me think of vampires almost immediately.

That's been done to death by now, and is bound to attract some Twilight referencing and/or trolling.

I'd have to agree, plus It makes me think of the Red Lantern Corp. I'm not sure whether to say its overused or stereotypical, but it just doesn't strike me as a interesting idea. I would think overused works, but it oddly makes me think of an anime plot more than anything else. Its probably just me on that, but if that's your target audience, it works. Its maybe that I'm not an anime person is why, and it's probably used outside of it, but its the first thing that comes to mind.

I think the idea of power resulting from seeing blood is sort of cool. Maybe you just make it brutality-based; the character is powered-up from seeing blood, battle, etc. Not like going into a rage or anything, but actually being able to use whatever powers they have more effectively.

To add seriousness-ish: If superpowers and stuff were real, how would the government react? I think they'd end up being illegal in terms of vigilante-ism. Maybe illegal period.

The government would obviously commit superpowered human genocide, by killing them off because they are monsters who threaten society. Of course, secretly they would be kidnapping and imprisoning large quantities of them, dissecting them in an attempt to figure out how to reverse engineer the superpowers in order to use it as weaponry.

Duh.

I tried cutting myself just so I COULD FEEL SOMETHING.

But it turns out I still didn't feel anything.

Lame.

Actually, I see it more as an internment camp situation with anti supernatural propaganda leading to an increase of vigilantism against the super-powered beings in the first place. When speaking on the thoughts of super-powered beings, you begin a basic new "race" regardless of skin color or culture. America would be hard pressed to do any genociding, if say, even an eighteenth of the American population instantaneously acquired otherwise latent powers. What would happen, again, would first be concealment, muting the press, followed closely by heavy curfew and restrictions to limit the possibility of superhero sightings, which of course, mean increased police-force, police-brutality, and "random" firings due to police officers seeing something they aren't supposed to. This will inevitably lead to a black-mail sort of scheme involving some who have gotten some type of leverage, (i.e. recorded sightings and witnesses) and retaliation from the government. ((THE AMERICAN GOVERNMENT does NOT negotiate with terrorists. In America!)) Pretty soon, word would get around in the underground and multiple sightings would arise, even if half of them are hoax. Pretty soon, you find out your neighbor is a superpowered Juggernaut capable or ripping thy loins in twain with some mechanical phallus.

This would lead the government to finally acknowledge the existence of meta-humans, which is probably already known amongst everyone else. They then go pass a bunch of laws increasing curfew, not allowing supers to vote, get a job. And then, finally, as we did with the Japanese in WW2, internment camps, followed by race riots and all out anarchy. Of course they'll be using supers for war machines while searching for a supposed cure, but all in all, there's gonna be a lot of who-do, and its gonna be the 60's-70's all over again. Super-Woodstock. Yeah.

Fear my Wall-o-Text.

Also, I guess my power would be facilitating: awakening people's dormant powers, increasing the IQ in 4chaners, or just making someone ill person well again through a subconscious placebo-effect.

By the by, using blood as a weapon/defense/what have you has also been done to death. Browse around weeaboo roleplays. Every "element" story has at least two or three "blood users".
