If I go into the past, and I meet my past self, and they know Bill Nye who knows Chuck Norris who is neighbor to both Bruce Lee & Jackie Chan, and they all live in a complex run by Felix the cat who is trying to push a upstanding member of society right bill on Kingedent Dexter who just keeps handing the bill to Vice President P. Panther to hand to the Nostalgia Crtitic to hands it to Spiderman who throws it at Pikachu who tapes it to Jigglypuff's back who is pwned by Lucario who is pwned by Fox who nukes Andross' eye who killed James, who was really Fox's uncle and found out that Andross was his father. So he tried to kill himself by jumping into a pit but flies past that guy who got kicked into the pit and lands next to an epic battle between He-Man and Skeletor who knock Fox into a coma where he finds the weirdest coma-enduced hallucination ever and realizes that he is part Eevee. So he wakes up, opens a soda, watches Youtube, and dies on his keyboard.

What part of this statement makes sense?

Either pirate Photoshop...

Or open the image in Paint. Make the canvas the size you want the avatar to be. Select the whole image, and slowly pull the corners of the square (of the tool, not the canvas) until you get the size you want.

I can't guarantee good quality, though.
