I thought he was evil, but he simply did a heel-face turn.

I mean, wasn't Silver's primary goal to prove himself better than his father, Giovanni, by destroying Team Rocket and establishing a new mafia that he would lead?

Honestly though, Silver was awesome. He was the only rival character that actually had a really interesting personality. Blue was just a standard school-yard bully, and I don't know WTF is up with Pearl; he has like ADHD or something. And Wally was a wuss. But Silver, now he was badass.

I'll give Blue kudos though, for being the only rival that was actually skilled enough in battling to become the Champion.

Um... I think the duration on crying spoilers kinda expired for games that are TEN YEARS OLD.

I already knew that little tidbit about silver, but it was never actually REVEALED in the original Gold and Silver.

There is an event in the remakes that reveals who his father is, if you obtain Celebi. So, yeah, still spoilers.

That'd be true... except that it wasn't in the originals, only the remakes!

Incidentally, why do you always have huge memory defects when it comes to Pokemon games?

It was in the manga, and also hinted at strongly enough in the original G/S/C that I figured it out when I was a kid. Admittedly, I never realized Silver is male until HG/SS was announced.

Hinting doesn't really count, you should probably make sure you put stuff that wasn't explicitly stated in-game in spoiler tags next time. A little apology to the ones you spoiled it for wouldn't hurt either. :T

Also, in FR/LG, if you beat the game and go to the final boss fight with TR on one of the islands (forget which), the admin will go "Wait... Are you Giovanni's kid!? No, that's not right. Giovanni's kid has red hair." Which is pretty much all anyone needs to know that Silver is Giovanni's son.
Anyway "evil sidekick" basically means "the sidekick of an evil person." Sidekicks are never quite as cool as their partners, so if you're a sidekick of an evildoer you're never allowed to be quite as evil as them. Or so the media has taught me.

Anyway, we're waiting for that update. :I

And I'm also under the impression that no human being could be as evil as Skye, and quite frankly, I'd love to see them start their own evil organization. MATCHING OUTFITS YAY.
