An E-Mail my mom sent me...
Manure... An interesting fact

Manure: In the 16th and 17th centuries, everything had to be transported by ship and it was also before commercial fertilizer's invention, so large shipments of manure were common.

It was shipped dry, because in dry form it weighed a lot less than when wet, but once water (at sea) hit it, it not only became heavier, but the process of fermentation began again, of which a by product is methane gas. As the stuff was stored below decks in bundles you can see what could (and did) happen. Methane began to build up below decks and the first time someone came below at night with a lantern, BOOOOM!

Several ships were destroyed in this manner before it was determined just what was happening

After that, the bundles of manure were always stamped with the term 'Ship High In Transit' on them, which meant for the sailors to stow it high enough off the lower decks so that any water that came into the hold would not touch this volatile cargo and start the production of methane.

Thus evolved the term ' S.H.I.T ' , (Ship High In Transit) which has come down through the centuries and is in use to this very day.

You probably did not know the true history of this word.

Neither did I.

I had always thought it was a golf term.

Not real. Shit is a fucking ancient term. It was being used by germanic languages back at the time of the Roman Empire.

Though it wasn't vulgar back then. It was simply the word for dung. Scite

Likewise, Fuck is also a very old word...

German ficken (to fuck)
Dutch fokken (to breed, to strike, to beget)
Norwegian fukka (to copulate)
Swedish fokka (to strike, to copulate) and fock (penis)

It isn't even an English word originally. Neither are.

I'm not soulless. I have plenty of souls. They're just not mine.

Actually, I probably do. I heard the work 'fuck' was actually F.U.C.K. once. 'Fornicating Under Consent of the King'.
I heard that, too.

I hear this stuff in the band room when we're supposed to be practicing.

Gawd. No wonder we suck so much. We spend all our time discussing the origin of the word "fuck".

I'm thinking about offering to do paid commissions on dA.

I don't know what kind of things people would ask me to draw for them, or how much cheddar I should charge.

I will put a new journal entry up asking people over on dA, but I wanted to hear you guys' and gals' thoughts on the matter.

1. What kind of commissions would you ask somebody like me to do:
* 1A. Character artwork?
* 1B. Avatars or signature artwork?
* 1C. Original tattoo designs?
* 1D. Other (specify)?
2. How much would you pay for (examples):
* 2A. One character, linework only?
* 2B. One character, fully coloured?
* 2C. Two characters, linework only?
* 2D. Two characters, fully coloured?
* 2E. Other (specify)?
3. Have you done paid commissions yourself?
4. How much would you yourself expect to be paid for a piece of art?

I really have no idea how to go about this so if any of you could help me out I would appreciate it.

Also, I don't know whether to offer to draw upstanding member of society erotic stuff just because I reckon I could get paid lots of cheddar for it.
