Re: All topics unimportant enough to not create a thread for
Wouldn't ironing it discharge it?
Re: All topics unimportant enough to not create a thread for
Dare a sibling to touch all of it.
Speaking of, I have not experienced a static discharge in years.

Don't blame me; I voted for Kodos.

I'll look into it a bit later, for now, I'm gonna hang it and hope that some of it discharges automatically. Luckily, I don't need it any time soon.

That is absolutely beautiful.
In other news, I finally got around to dual booting Ubuntu to my computer and didn't screw up like I did a few years ago when I lat tried it. I did accidentally allocate too much hard drive space to it though, but that's not that big of a deal really.

You can always boot up the same live cd/usb stick and use gparted to resize it.
Did you make a separate /home partition?

Oh. I fixed it already, I was just saying that it was a problem at first. And yea, /home has a separate partition.

Cool. That will make it easier to move to something better than Ubuntu.

I only used Ubuntu because I already had it on a flash drive and didn't feel like downloading something else. I'm only really using it so I'm not tempted to play video games when I'm trying to be productive. What would you recommend I use instead?

Heh don't mind me I'm being an elitist.
I don't like Canonical's decisions and their attitude towards free software, privacy and the rest of the Linux world. Usually I recommend Mint for beginners. It's based on Ubuntu so it has all the advantages but it's actually easier to deal with imo. The default environments are more familiar to Windows users (while Ubuntu's environment is a mixture of OSX and alien technology) and the whole thing is more straightforward, plus it's not geared towards exploiting its users. For more advanced users I recommend openSUSE (which I'm running on all my computers). It might take a little more effort to get used to it but it's much more convenient in every way once you get to know it and it's not any harder to administrate than Ubuntu and its derivatives, on the contrary.
In any case it's cool that you're trying out Linux. You can use whatever you like.

Re: All topics unimportant enough to not create a thread for
More and more I'm starting to see the downsides of social media more than the upsides. Mostly Facebook, I hardly post anything there anyway but I'm starting to think I should just never check it. MAYBE one person on my news feed on any given day has anything to say that I actually care about, the rest is advertising, shitty clickbait links, and people's opinions that they think everyone is OBLIGATED to care about.
It makes me think that it's not worth it to care about what every single random person has to say. Then again, I suppose insulating yourself with only the people you like and agree with is dangerous in its own way.

If I find anything about Ubuntu that I don't like then I'll switch to Mint. Otherwise, I'll probably stick with Ubuntu until I'm comfortable with it and then switch to something more advanced.Obnosim wrote:Heh don't mind me I'm being an elitist.

I hate Facebook. At this point, I want to delete mine, but I have a few people on there that I don't know how to/can't contact outside of Facebook, so I keep it.SaintCrazy wrote:More and more I'm starting to see the downsides of social media more than the upsides. Re: All topics unimportant enough to not create a thread for
Yeah that's my main reason for keeping it around. In case I feel like contacting people I haven't actually talked to in ages. Or hearing news from my old hometown that I hate being in. Or maybe some potential employers can read my posts from years ago, I guess.
Re: All topics unimportant enough to not create a thread for
I don't do social media any farther than what forums and Skype do.
Don't blame me; I voted for Kodos.
