If we're looking at chat clients Discord is pretty cool.

Re: All topics unimportant enough to not create a thread for
do we not have just like, a skype group
Re: All topics unimportant enough to not create a thread for
I'm not looking for IM clients as I have no friends to talk to in the first place, and I refuse to use Skype. If anything I'd rather use qTox.
Also I don't own/care about mobile devices so Mumble would probably work better for me.
I was saying that because Exeres' tinychat room kept malfunctioning yesterday and we had to reload the page and go through annoying captchas all the time, and that didn't happen before.

Re: All topics unimportant enough to not create a thread for
Been reading a lot of religious blogs lately, just to try and see things from a different perspective. Didnt find anything other than people twisting themselves into pretzels trying to justify why their beliefs are superior to all others. I shit you not, this is what came up on a Christian Apologetic blog "Belief only makes sense if what you belive is true, so God must be real".
I just... do they not READ the things they write? Dont get me started on what I found on the Islam blog.

Re: All topics unimportant enough to not create a thread for
If you truly believe that God transcends the entire world and all of humanity and everything is controlled by him, of course your beliefs are going to be your first priority because that's your whole world, by definition it is the Most Important Thing and everything else is petty by comparison.
So if something doesn't make any sense, your first instinct is going to be "well what does God/my holy book/my religion have to say about this" because that is the ultimate truth, the standard that everything else in the world is measured by. No amount of argument or evidence is going to change your mind because you've already arrived at the answer.
Having come from a religious background I know I used to think like this. For a lot of people, a logical fallacy is preferable to denying the absolute truths they base their whole life around.

Re: All topics unimportant enough to not create a thread for
I understand the desire for there to be a God, becuse the thought of death is terrifying to me too, but I'm not going to wrap my brain into a knot with Orwellian doublethink just so I can make the pieces fit the way I want to. I think the worst was when the guy tried to explain why the soul must exist because science hasnt mapped out every last function of the brain yet. So I'm thinking, if the soul is something larger than the brain, why can damage to the brain radically alter our personality? Is there a preset version of us we're supposed to be? What about when we die? Do you just turn into the person you're supposed to be, erasing the person you actually are? No answers to that of course

Same-sex marriage is now legal in Ireland. Neat.
That was poorly worded, sorry.
