Yeah, but in the stories he appears in, he looks like a human. None of the other Old Gods do that. He doesnt ACTUALLY look like a human, but he likes using that form

at the mountains of madness is my personal favorite

Probably Cthulhu's story is the easiest to grasp. It's short, it doesn't require an incredible amount of imagination, and serves as a distillation for pretty much all of Lovecraft's writing.
The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far. The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the deadly light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.
That's how the short story begins, but it practically sums up all of Lovecraft's eldritch horror works.

Besides all of that, if I remember correctly, Cthulhu is more or less supposed to act as a messenger or harbinger for the rest of the Old Gods, making him the most obvious link in the chain of humanity's impending destruction by forces beyond comprehension.

IN TODAY'S EPISODE OF RIKU IS A KNOW-IT-ALL PARTY POOPER:
Cold weather itself has almost no effect on your illness unless you are in it consistently enough that your body temperature is actually being lowered (meaning you generally have to be in winter weather for a week or so before it'll have any notable effect.) Then there is SOME degree of lowered immune response, but I haven't been able to find any consistent information on how severe the effect is. That being said, certain illnesses do seem to become more active at certain times of year, due to incubation factors, as well as social factors. For example, in the U.S, at least, frequency of minor illness goes up drastically for the first third or so of the school year, due to suddenly having 20-30 children crammed into a room, all swapping infections due to poor hygiene.

Generally speaking, heightened illness in winter is caused by two things:
A) Increased contact with people in warm, indoor spaces, since everyone is huddled in the house all day and night
B) Drier air in many regions, which leads to more cracked skin (tiny open wounds), particularly in the sinuses and on your hands, which allows you to be more readily infected by anything airborne or that you touch, respectively.

Can I just blame the weather?

I never thought about this but it explains so much. I used to get sick in colder weather a lot, and I also used to be a germaphobe and washed my hands almost constantly, which led to having really dry skin, especially in the winter (my hands would sometimes bleed, it was terrible).

The other day I got to work at 6 AM.

At 7 AM I tried to drive my coworker home (so she didn;t have to walk home in the dark when it is 40 degrees F outside), and my stick shift wouldn't budge out of park. Car started fine, everything was fine. On my lunch break 6~ hours later I tried to remote diagnose on the phone with my mechanic, but all I achieved was taking apart the center console and looking at parts that worked as expected.

So I now appreciate more than anything the fact that my mother buys AAA for us all. Free towing 15 miles back home to my mechanic and free transport to my house.

Anyway, it turns out that randomly my car just had like four fuses explode after I shut it off upon arriving at work. No real reason could be find, so we're just assuming it is because my car is 18 years old.

But they work now. And I'm glad it was just fuses so I didn't have to have expensive shit replaced.

also I got complimented on how clean I keep my car.

Which is to say I apparently don't just spray soda everywhere and let it dry and I occasionally dust off the dashboard. I also don't have any sort of emotional attachment to trash, so I clean it out of my car every day or so.

CLEAN YOU CARS, PEOPLE

YOUR MECHANIC WILL BE IMPRESSED

I bought Rocksmith for 360 a couple days ago. Tried it yesterday, and since I can't look at the screen and still see what I'm doing, I couldn't do the simplest shit on that game. It was pretty discouraging. I'll most likely just stick to reading the tabs and playing along to the CD if I want to learn a song.

I have an opportunity to move out of my parent's house, but I don't know how to tell them. I feel like they'll get mad at me for trying to leave.
