Now I understand why a lot of people stop coming to websites like this during college. Shit's time consuming, yo.
Also, I'm already behind in my engineering class. Not too far though, a couple extra hours of studying should catch me up. I just need to be sure not to get behind again.

I have to do an oral presentation in two weeks for my psychology/communication class. We have to talk about something personal but it can't be our academic path. That leaves me with nothing to talk about because I have no personality of my own and no life to speak of. Help.

have you ever been part of guild? talking about those generally get good grades because its like a tiny community that works together for a common goal.Obnosim wrote:I have to do an oral presentation in two weeks for my psychology/communication class. An actual guild or a MMO guild?
I've been in the latter but we've never done much together. Also I would be too embarrassed to talk about MMOs in front of real-life people and especially non-nerds.

I cant really say much else cause middle school broke me and i stopped giving a fuck what others thought and just talked about mattered to me, so I never hesitated to talk about the Fire Emblem Forum I was on or how being a Vice-Host for an Evony guild helped me as a leader as stuff like that.
On the bright side my sinuses feel clearer

That's cool. Unfortunately I'm made of inhibitions.NaraStrex wrote:I cant really say much else cause middle school broke me and i stopped giving a fuck what others thought and just talked about mattered to me, so I never hesitated to talk about the Fire Emblem Forum I was on or how being a Vice-Host for an Evony guild helped me as a leader as stuff like that.
I just remembered the teacher suggested (requested?) we bring some kind of visual support/prop and I figured I could always talk about Don Hertzfeldt and bring my DVDs.

Milk generally doesn't help much because the fat to water ratio is too low (especially if it's skim or 1%) and the water in the milk just spreads and exacerbates the problem. You need yogurt, cream, ice-cream, whatever has a much higher fat content to help wash away the oils rather than letting them coast on the surface of the water and resettle in to your taste buds.AquaBat wrote:I bit STRAIGHT into what I presume to be a cooked jalapeño

@Nara I started doing the same thing, it's how I meet more people with the same interests. It was also funny seeing the "hip kids" be dumbfounded at talk about DC comic lore.

Aaaaand a cartoon just insisted that milk is the cure. I really hate when memes are formed out of inaccurate facts.Kamak wrote:Milk generally doesn't help much because the fat to water ratio is too low (especially if it's skim or 1%) and the water in the milk just spreads and exacerbates the problem. Considering when the home remedy started, most people were still drinking whole milk which had enough fat content and casein to wash away and bind the capsaicin, it's more that people are so used to hearing about that being a solution that it permeates pop culture (or whatever you'd call this). Nowadays more people are beginning to understand the phenomenon better. If you eat something like indian curry you have a yogurt product with it instead of milk because of the spice, and a drink richer in fat helps more (like a milkshake).AquaBat wrote:Aaaaand a cartoon just insisted that milk is the cure. As far as cartoons are concerned, either it would seem too unrealistic for yogurt or cultured dairy products to be available to the characters, they're working with the assumption that the character is drinking whole milk because why not, or they just don't know/care and it's a funny gag, like how they used to have characters balloon out drinking water after eating spicy food. It's not really the most harmful thing cartoons can perpetuate as urban myth.

Everyone knows the real cure to spicy food is orange creamsicles.
