As far as I'm aware the keylogger is a new thing, and previous versions didn't shove ads in your face when using the start menu. Could you provide sources?
Also some spying features reportedly cannot be turned off or will stay enabled no matter how you play around with settings and registry entries despite the UI telling you they're disabled.

So apparently my kitten likes Cream Cheese, I'm trying to check and make sure it's safe for her to eat, any advice?

cats are lactose intolerant, so even though creme cheese has a relatively low percentage, i wouldn't risk it.

also it's fattening

i just found out that chrome has variable/coloured scrollbars

and by just found out i mean i just started using it last night and im just. i haven't seen a custom scrollbar since like 2005

Kittens can still handle small amounts of lactose for a few months after they are born but yeah it's pretty fattening. They already get a lot of fat from kitten food.

For various reasons, I am now more involved than ever in the modern data systems. I'm not sure I like it. Its very convenient, but I've always done things the slower way specifically to keep myself from getting too caught up in technology.

Been havin a good time recently doing tarot card readings for my friends haha I don't know if I'm super good at it or not, but I guess I'm not too bad, and my interpretations seem to work out pretty accurate.

Anyone else here ever done/recieved a card reading, or any other such divination?
Or, y'know, whatever.

My other username i use is ClairvoyantNara so id say yes.
I spent alot of time in the house of a fortune teller near my house. She would let me sit in a room behind where she told fortunes while she had customers.
She always told me what was most important was people leave reinforced in there beliefs. If someone comes in asking about the dead you tell them they are pop flyin' and want person to be pop flyin' too. If someone comes in expecting a sideshow you play it up and they leave yelling your fraud, but they are still pop flyin' cause they feel they suspicions where verified.

Also I have a crazy affinity for hierophant, it was the one thing she drew nearly every time.

Vax, this is a slippery slope to wearing a top hat and singing about having friends on the other side

I like the tarot cards for their symbolism which is pretty cool, but divination is ridiculous by its very definition, just like astrology.

From what ive learned its more about helping people emotionally than actually seeing the future or the dead. People go for the same reason they go to a psychologist or to a church.

Which would be fine if thats all it was, but its not. There's a lot of people who genuinely belive in this stuff, just like church. They seriously think that stars who sort of look like stuff from our particular angle in the universe even though they're not anywhere near eachother have any sort of effect on their life. Its basically just about telling people what they want to hear.

I found a pack of tarots once with a guidebook and tried my hand at it for shits and giggles. It's mostly being good at coming up with narratives on the spot and telling people what they want to hear.

What's the deal with all the spying features? Did they forget that crap didn't fly when they tried putting it on the Xbox One? (Referring to the camera thing)

On Win10 you can actually claim it serves a purpose. Like, recording everything you type and install and do and say in order to analyse it and theoretically improve their services, sending your wi-fi password to the NSA so they can make sure no one is trying to hack your Facebook, and saving the content of your emails and overy other personal information it can get a hold of so you can get an "improved" personalized experience even though you absolutely don't need to give up your privacy for those features (I have the same type of personalized experience where my applications share a (local!) centralized semantic database so they can share the relevant data with each others and expose it to the shell in convenient ways, and there is no online bullshit required and no ads involved).
It's actually not much worse than anything Google ever, or Facebook et al, or any major mobile OS, and people don't care about privacy on those platforms because convenience and omg it's so shiny and validating.
The Xbone didn't need to be awake all the time to spy on you and read your lips and watch your heart in infrared and plan your demise, that didn't actually provide any possibly interesting function, it was just Microsoft spying on you because they could. There's a certain amount of personal information that is worth giving away when it's necessary for a service to properly operate, but you really don't need to send everything about you to countless remote servers to find emails from your mom or that cat video you can't seem to find on your hard drive or to know where the closest café is.
In conclusion, they can totally get away with it because people are ignorant and dumb and don't care because it's free and looks like an ipad.

They want to observe patterns in your computer usage in order to provide you with a better, more personal experience!

Just like every other company that tries to track you.

In other words they want your personal info just to sell you more crap.
