Wow, so glad to be back home where everyone's in a pissy mood all day and subtly rude to each other.

And then we all sit down to play Uno and suddenly like the flip of a switch everyone seems to be pop flyin'.

We have a new puppy at our house and she has a tendency to bite when she gets too excited. Read: She gets too excited a lot. My sister told me to spray water at her with the spray bottle to get her to stop, and I told her I didn't feel that was necessary because I've found that just sternly telling her "no" gets her to stop. I told my mom about that and she quite cockily told me I was wrong. Today the puppy was biting again and she wouldn't stop when I told her "no". OK, so I was wrong, I get the spray bottle and I spray her. Mom notices and just HAS to comment. "How's telling her 'no' working out for you? How's that working out for you, huh? How's that working out for you?" Yes, thank you for harping on how you're so smart and I'm a dumb stupid baby, Mom, I love that.

HOLY FUCK then she gets MAD at me when I tell her I don't need her to walk me through EVERY SINGLE GODDAMN STEP of ordering bed sheets at Wal-Mart's online store. I do in fact know how to use a search bar or use those handy little side bars that have all the categories for products. Now how on Earth could I possibly know how to do that? Maybe because I'M TWENTY-ONE YEARS OLD, NOT A FOUR YEAR OLD.

^ one of the things i've heard of working best is actually yelping when puppies bite. you can also say no right after so she knows that no means stop or whatever, but yelping is their language, and they know it best. eventually she'll start nipping softer and softer and eventually stop altogether.

i find that spraying them with water actually contributes toward being afraid of bathing. they can also start associating just the noise of the bottle with discipline so say you were cleaning the kitchen or something she might think you were mad at her.

My older cat has been vomiting every couple of weeks or so--at least I'm pretty sure it's my older cat--and he's lost three pounds in less than a year. He weighs 9 pounds now. I want to take him to a vet because I'm getting concerned, but my dad refuses because he doesn't want to pay vet bills.

My cat is more alive than any of my dad's stupid cars will ever be, and my cat is a member of the family and he CAN'T HELP HIMSELF when he gets sick. Is he not allowed to see a doctor when he gets sick? Does he not have a right to being healthy and feeling good just because he's not human?

I think if my dad had his way he'd only ever have a pet rock.

Not a vet or a doctor of any kind but this sound exactly like what my cats have had in the past and it's probably hyperthyroidism. You can't really stop it, but you can slow it down and improve his quality of life dramatically if you can get some medicine.
At least that's with the medicine we get, I'm not sure if there's any other kind of treatment. Probably so?

Yeah that's one of the things I was suspecting too. Either that, diabetes, or kidney problems. They're all treatable.

If it's a thyroid issue there IS a cure but it's expensive, it's an iodine injection that interferes with the thyroid gland. Other than that, pills are the cheaper alternative but they aren't permanent.

I did finally convince my dad to do the vet visit so we took my cat there and now we just have to wait to hear back from them about his bloodwork and his urinalysis.

All of a sudden there are roaches everywhere in this place. Like holy crap man.
I might have to go and get a few of those bug bombs and clear the place out soon.

Don't waste your cheddar on bug bombs. as far as I know, they don't do shit against roaches

What should I use then? I guess I can just keep using insecticide every now and again.
Maybe I should buy the powder stuff and just leave it around the doors.

My cat's bloodwork and urinalysis both came back and they're normal. That could be either a really good thing or a really bad thing. Best case scenario, he just needs to be switched over to the same corn-free food that we give the kitten and see if a new diet helps him feel better.

Worst case scenario would be lymphoma. We're still waiting for a call from the vet with recommendations.

Or if, come to find out, he's got a completely clean bill of health, that means the kitten is the one throwing up and that could mean any number of things. My dad won't spring for another vet appointment to get her checked out but kitten eats a lot of non-edible things that could likely make her puke. She's not very smart.
