Also, tourists are fucking idiots. "What's that? The forest fire ravaging the east side of the state just destroyed a town? At least a 100 families are homeless now? 20 car pileup on the highway? Nah I'm going to bitch how my vacation is ruined because of all the smoke"

The fires are so bad that even in spokane and nine mile falls everything is smoky and hazy, and we live three hours away from the fire. This reminds me of the wildfires that happen in california. Some days in the summer the air quality in sacramento would be so bad that we couldn't go outside.

Dammit, I was feeling fine and the smoke wasn't bothering me until you guys mentioned it. Now my throat is burning.

It's really sad to hear about that town, though. My grandma was saying they lost schools and churches and everything.

Yeah, they're out in a small town, it's just weird though because everything seems like they're getting the same service as us in Texas (kinda shitty, but the only one available and it's bearable), and there's nothing really to explain why it can't handle multiple devices with some minor slowdown instead of what it's doing.

Fire that started eight hours ago is already up to over 7k acres, is 0% contained, has two towns on mandatory evacuation, has done obscene figures of damage to the wheat fields, might threaten the town my university is in, and if the wind gets fucked enough (which can happen once fires get big enough to start their own weather patterns), there is a slight (though not panic-worthy) chance that it'll jump the interstate and start heading toward where I live, since it's already only about a 20 minute drive away.

Oh, and it was all started by three dumbshits who thought it was a good idea to shoot tannerite out in a field during the hottest part of the year.

This morning when I woke up the entire house smelled like smoke because I had one or two windows open at night. The air outside is thick with smoke, so thick I can't really stand to be outside. I'm getting really, really concerned.

Hahahahahaha just checked the news, and as of an hour ago, it's still 0% contained hahahaha


At least it seems to be slowing down. it only gained about a thousand acres over 6 hours, as opposed to 5000 acres in 3 hours. I'm still just concerned that the wind might completely fuck everything up and make it start spreading west.


EDIT: Apparently my previous information was not as up-to-date as I thought, since the estimate is now 13k acres, rather than 8.5. At least it's still not moving in my direction.

Thing that rustled me off: I just found out a couple of people who I had fairly good opinions of are very anti gay, so that kinda disappoints me.

No one knows exactly who it is so far, but the whole damned county knows that they drive a Dodge pickup that's painted yellow with black stripes, so they won't be able to take that car into daylight without running into a line of angry farmers ready to shoot them.

I sleep on a crappy old broken futon with a crappy old deformed mattress and a couple months ago I tried adding a second crappy old deformed mattress on top of it and eventually added about eight other cushions and plastic pads and stuff to compensate for the deformations and the cushion I added last week made it comfortable for the first time ever. Last night I decided to remove everything and put it back in place to improve it a bit, and it turned out the final cushion was apparently moldy and it contaminated the whole stack so now I have to throw everything away and find another bed to sleep on because without two mattresses I keep smashing my feet and head on the wooden arms that stick out when it's in bed mode and I have to sleep all contorted because I can't fit between them otherwise.

Well something finally happened of that envelope, and that something is "The Resident requested you don't work that post anymore."

Boy, I wonder how "The Resident" could've possibly thought that me, and me alone should be thrown under the bus for this situation that I've been cleared of...

I should take solace that the security company has sone faith in me still, because "If there was any doubt to your honesty, we'd have just fired you." Though it still pisses me off they're not willing to listen to me figure out what's really going on because "There's no questioning it, we're just going to do it."

......I'm not questioning it, I'm trying to get the point across to you that there's someone still working that gate who's willing to throw coworkers under the bus to save his own booty. There's still someone there with the integrity of a mainstream news channel, but you won't hear it because said person has convinced "The Resident" to put you in a financial chokehold.

I guess it is for the best, though...because if I'm right, I probably don't want to work that post either...I just don't like it when assholes get away with shit, and observers let it happen.

I really like browsing funny/interesting pics on Imgur but the community seems to be turning into a ton of judgmental assholes these days.

What's a good name for a military base that may or may not be used as a secret prison to torture your enemies and that was built on an island whose inhabitants you forcibly deported then prevented from coming back by declaring the whole place a nature reserve?
