i just want to say that i was in no way offended or upset by barabba's comment. i don't expect everyone to know as much about animal diseases i do, haha. it was absolutely justified for him to think that the kittens would be ok. The only way they would be ok is if I took them away as soon as they were out of the mom, and it is extremely hard to raise kittens from birth and have them survive. I've raised hundreds of bottle kittens and the ones younger than two weeks almost never make it. my reply did come off kind of sarcastic/annoyed but it was not intended that way. while it's a good idea to now make jokes about sensitive subjects, i am not someone who is easily upset about that sort of thing.

also just to clear it up - cat leukemia is different from human leukemia. human leukemia is a cancer and isn't contagious; feline leukemia is a virus, so it is VERY contagious. it's transmitted through the saliva, so mutual grooming, sharing food/water, and really just being around other cats can transmit it. Pretty much if one cat tests positive, every cat in the house (or area if it's a stray like Lucy is/was,) most likely has it. it's one of the most deadly and feared diseases for anyone who rescues or adopts stray cats because it's kind of a silent killer if the cat is freshly infected - it can stay dormant for a very long time before signs are shown, and if it's a pet in a multi-cat household it can be too late before it's discovered. This is why when you get a new cat they do bloodwork when you take them to the vet for the first time.

I know that it has something to do with either cancer or AIDS. Or white blood cells. I didn't know it was passed on from mother to child.

Anyway, sorry about your cat.

And now I'm thinking that my post came across a bit harsher than what I intended, and for that I apologize, Barabba. While I"m not going to remove the post, because I meant what I said, I'm not trying to bully you. I'm just trying to get across what passive comments don't seem to have accomplished (and not even just for you. But you've kind of been the most vocal example lately, and the names of the others escape me at the moment. Sorry).

I don't know if the way you post is primarily the result of an online persona, or if it's because of 39248208 other potential reasons. Just please think ahead.

Naw Riku for real it is never time to joke if a person is talking about a pet or loved one having a disease. Not something to make light of whatsoever unless it's a cold or something.

Barraba just don't joke about diseased animals or people when someone's making a personal post about it. It's never a good idea and generally unacceptable.

I feel like such an immature brat sometimes. But I hate when my friend is pretencious and stuck up about how she knows more than me, older, or does things better. I hate it when anyone does it. When I get upset by them, it's like I'm throwing a fit beneath a large blanket ontop of me, and the more I thrash, the more I become entangled and unable to cry louder. I just want to be an equal.

Gee mom, I sure am sorry for not being a bubbly little angel when telling my grandmother not to take pictures of me when I'm lying in bed wearing nothing but a towel. By golly I ought to respect her for that, and it definitely wasn't really fucking weird.

Also, what the fuck.

Taking pictures of grandchildren almost-naked stops being cute once the kid gets old enough to have some modesty. Your granny is creepy.

The "whatever" is a good start.
Just ignore pretty much everything your ma says. She's kiiiiind of a butt.
I mean, it is good to keep in mind what clothes fit you, but you have a perfectly good handle on that yourself. She doesn't need to be harping on you in ways that may or may not even be correct.

If this is really and that's really what the academy did I will walk to Hollywood and personally kick all of their asses.
Just, fuck everyone who disrespects animation as a medium.

An animated film will never win Best Picture. That's just how it is right now because the Academy does not like animated films. Or fantasy. Or sci-fi.

Maybe in ten years it'll be different.

Calling something best picture is a very subjective thing to begin with. How do you compare the quality of two movies that are both great in their own genre but are totally different genres?

Well, I think that despite having a lot of different genres, every movie has the same scaffolding--plot, characters, subplots, settings. How strong all of those mesh together should be something that CAN be compared across genres.

I hate my brain. I hate that I can't focus on anything ever.

I hate that it seems like I'm physically incapable of working hard on something no matter how badly I want to just finish it. I hate that almost every single stress and problem in my life is caused directly or indirectly by my inability to focus and get everything done in a timely manner.

I also hate that I'm on the waiting list for ADD testing and I won't get around to it until the fall. By then I will be graduated and doing student teaching and I don't even know if drugs will help me anyway.

When I get really stressed and down to the wire I think about just quitting, dropping out or studying something else, but I can't start over because I graduate in a couple months anyway and it'd be stupid to throw all that away now. Fuck whoever said that people should decide what to do with their lives at the age of 20. I will probably go back to school and look into other careers eventually but it feels like I'll never get there, and like the chances of me slipping up and ruining everything before I get there are too big.
