Comment Snob has an option to disable Youtube Comments completely. Use them and then just tab out during the ad.

I'm not even mad at him for saying it because he's a backwoods hick turned TV star, it's to be expected. It's all the people who are supporting him that I'm rustled about.
And it's not just homophobic remarks, he said that black people were "pop flyin' before the civil rights movement" but of course that's too similar to Paula Deen's scandal, so everywhere's just going with the gay stuff.

The issue is that he's an "icon" and the resulting shitstorm is bringing out the worst in people. He's been kicked off his own show and people are mad about that because "muh liberal agenda" and meanwhile other people want the show entirely cancelled because A&E is doing their damnedest to keep it on with as few changes as possible because of the cheddar it makes. The NAACP and gay rights activist groups have denounced his remarks (which frankly, I'm not sure why people are shocked and "hurt" that they are. They're pretty much obligated to their supporters to react to this stuff), which causes even more shit to blow up, and now people are speculating whether Obama supports racism and anti-gay slander (or if this means the remarks aren't racist because "racism no longer exists") because the guy was at the White House for a prestigious event that he apparently paid his way into.

It's a giant mess, the guy is a complete tool and an asshole (and there's some iffiness about his cheddar being spent to promote christian values, but that's just kinda subjective at this point), and everyone's at eachother's throats over civil discourse and making the other sides out to be strawmen because they can't argue without turning the other side into villainous braindead dipshits.

Problem is that "MY GOD-GIVEN RIGHT TO SAY WHATEVER THE FUCK I WANT AND DISREGARD ALL CONSEQUENCES TO WHAT I SAY" has long since become a catch all term for people who thinks it means "freedom to say whatever I want with no repercussions". Everyone wants to be able to scream all the hateful slurs they want, and not see any consequences for it, because they think thats what MY GOD-GIVEN RIGHT TO SAY WHATEVER THE FUCK I WANT AND DISREGARD ALL CONSEQUENCES TO WHAT I SAY means, rather than protection from goverment censorship, it is NOT a free pass to hide from the groups you slander
