Hey, Ive never been quite certain about what constitutes a neckbeard. Is it soemone who has beard GROWING on their neck, or a scraggly beard thats obscuring the neck?
Pretty much when you have tons of hair growing out of your neck. It's pretty unattractive to most, and is more or less a sign of less than adequate hygiene, grooming, and interest in ones own physical appearance.
Also I wanted to weigh in on the children argument and I agree with Dire. People need to stop getting so worked up over kids that aren't completely well behaved at all times. It's really not that bad, and shouldn't reflect upon every kid ever.

I've been getting more of an interest in wearing more feminine clothes (frilly stuff w/ bows and such) but I'm having a hard time finding what I like.
The bulk of women's fashion is either slightly masculine, super modern style, or just straight up plain and boring. It's really frustrating trying to find more options without getting into stuff I can't afford.

I'm still not really sure the thread should have been locked, but it did make me feel uncomfortable/insecure every time somebody railed on bro
nies.
I wouldn't class myself as a 'br
ony' - certainly no-where near extreme as some of the nut-jobs that got posted in that thread - and I generally roll with the punches in regard to that kind of thing - but it still hits a nerve sometimes when you realise that it really doesn't take much for people to turn hostile at somebody because their interests aren't 'normal'.

I
can't shave every day because the skin on my face becomes irritated/dries out - would two-days worth of stubble growth constitute a 'neckbeard'?

I still hold to the theory that all of this worship of "manly beards of manliness!" is just the neckbeard population trying to sway society into accepting their choice in "facial" hair.
And thus, Dire has inadvertently described one of psychology's more entertaining phenomenon, the "Don't think about the white bear" phenomenon.
Where telling people we're not allowed to talk, or think about a certain thing will just bring it to our attention.
You now can't not think of a white bear.

Basically this. I'll admit that my neice and nephews are very capable of being nuisances, and often it coincides with them being out in public (especially if they're getting over a cold and their mom is dragging them to the store because it's her only day to get groceries for the week and no one is home to watch them otherwise).
However, just because kids are shitheads sometimes and you happen to see them being a shithead, doesn't mean that they're 100% awful all the time and everyone should hate them too. Kids are complex and don't have the experience to manage their emotions or express themselves according to what adults are expected to be.
So instead of rallying against shithead kids and the terrible parents that put them around you, consider the fact that they're likely not always like this and that it's the parent's responsibility to deal with it, and often parents feel worse about it than you do. After all, if they have a screaming child in a restaurant, they're not enjoying their meal any more than you are, especially when everyone is glaring at them like they're terrible for bringing a "misbehaving" child to eat.
Not every child is an angel, and not every parent is good, but to consider them bad off the bat is really dumb.

Complaining about kids is kinda like that thing where people will try to trump people's sad stories by saying something overly sad.
"Man, I was late for work today..."
"Oh yeah? HOMELESS PEOPLE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE YOUR JOB BUT THEY DON'T!"
It's silly to think the end of the world out of the fact you were late for work just like it's weird to look at one shitty kid and say "Ew, I never want kids, they're all shitty."
...but it's still pretty bad to be late for work
and it's still pretty shitty to have to put up with a shitty kid for a length of time, for whatever reason you have to

Its not like I can avoid other peoples kids either, I have to go out in public to do stuff, and people insist on bringing their screeching flesh maggots everywhere. Not to mention my downstairs neighbors fucking brat is bawling day and night
You know what my parents did when I acted out? They gave me a smack across the face and that taught me quick to shut the hell up

yeah turns out that just straight up hitting kids isn't actually constructive and breeds resentment and anger

Yeah, but you need to weigh the benefits WITH the costs.
Like you can just shoot a puppy who keeps shitting on your carpet.
......he won't shit on your carpet anymore......
Over exaggerated example is over exaggerated
