Then do some hardcore thinking about what you want to do.

Don't worry, but many people actually don't really know what they want to do right after school. Sure, they might have plans, but who knows if they really go trough with it? Or if they change their college majors, or learn a second job, etc.
Sure, it might feel bad that you didn't get that many awards, but I wouldn't worry about life, you're still young, a lot is going to happen still. I'd say lay back and take it easy.

If you do it right, your eventual "what I want to do with my life" will be a combination of what interests you, what you're good at, and the opportunities that are presented to you."

But by all means do NOT do something for just one of those reasons. Having one without the other two just spells disaster.

Relaying on opportunities doesn't sound like a good plan

Which is why I said "Having one without the other two just spells disaster."

And "opportunity" doesn't equate to someone poping up one day saying "Here's a job!" It's a matter of if the job even exists in the current market. You may love playing video games, and might even be super good at it, but what market is there for someone who just sits there playing video games all day?

Judging by the current glut of online gaming personalities, kind of a big one, all things considered

I'm not entirely confident that scamming people out of their cheddar just so they can watch you play video games counts as a profession...or more it shouldn't count. If you're able to make it work and get paid, however, well then hey...more power to you. I'm just saying that at least Katie and Scott offer some sort of tangible item in exchange for your hard earned chedder.

EDIT: Aside from, you know, writing comics on a regular basis which would count as creating their own art (the former a more ample example than the later). The people who are simply playing video games aren't even doing that. They're enjoying another person's art in a silly way. It's like you paying cheddar to a movie theater to see the other people watching a movie.

People who play videos games on streams or youtube offer the same thing as any TV personality; entertainment, they deserve cheddar for it as much as anyone else.

Who are you to say someone's profession is not valid, if they get cheddar for it and it doesn't hurt anyone then let them be.

The difference being that actors and actresses are working from a script created by writers, direction from directors, and style from their own acting talent. Multiple minds come together to form something new that provides entertainment. If I were to continue playing Skyrim, but crack a one liner every 5 seconds, would you pay me for that?

A profession is anything people are willing to pay you to do, regardless of how inane it is on paper.

Even if I'd essentially be doing the exact same thing as the other LPers? And you don't think that my Charisma is something other people have to judge for themselves, and certainly by more than just somebody I'm in an argument with?

Question: Do you watch LPers on a regular basis?

To be honest I can't argue with that, given that the market is controlled by the consumers more than it is the producers. The point I began with though is that the job market needs to be in consideration when it comes to your success at finding a job/career. You can have something that you're good at, and enjoy, but if no one wants to pay you for it then you're SOL.

You are welcome to upload an LP, you're right that I can't judge your charisma without you having done so but the fact that you haven't and your posts on this forum say a lot about it.

You might think you're "doing the exact same thing as the other LPers" but chances are you aren't. There's telling jokes and then there's telling funny jokes. There are other things to account for too like video editing and having a voice that's nice to listen to.

I watch some LPs but not super regularly, mostly just TBF and I like having raocow on rambling about stuff in the background since I like just hearing him talk because he's charismatic.

I used myself as an example more to prove a point, though I realized fter that it'd be moot aince it'd be a point to a completely different argument (there's another LPer who you'd have to agree is a part of the profession, but no one else on this forum seems to like for some reason.) I won't doubt that it's entertainment. Comedians get paid to tell jokes all the time. The main thing is that they're making cheddar off of enjoying other people's art. Would you pay a friend who goes with you to an art museum to make snarky comments on the paintings? What about a stranger who's willing to sit with you in a movie theater and crack jokes at the screen?

Essentially, you'd be paying them just for the simple fact that they have "Charisma" and nothing else.
