Ehhhhh. I do think he's good and clever, but his writing doesn't exactly grab me. Tried with Color of Magic and then again with Maurice and the Intelligent, Talking Rodents.

Would be better required reading than the usual dreck though.

I didn't really ever like The Color Of Magic. Personally, I like Pratchett's later works much more, even though The Color Of Magic was supposed to be a parody on fantasy works more so than his others. I haven't read Maurice before, but I've heard it was a good book.

I read Equal Rites, it was pretty good, but Jesus he tries so hard to be meta and it's kind of obnoxious sometimes.
