Some more of the comic I'm doing with a friend. It's a love hate project. We realised a little too late into the project we didn't actually like drawing upstanding members of society.

That and I chose a Gatling gun for our main weapon. Good job, me. Choose something complicated to draw over and over. Nice one.

I feel your pain, upstanding members of society are surprisingly difficult to draw. On the rare occasions I draw some, they tend to end up looking like mangy dogs no matter what species they are

Oh I don't have a problem drawing them. I just don't like em. (Not any more, after meeting a lot of the upstanding member of society community).

Yeah, its... there's a lot of unpleasant people there. Even for a subctulture.

I've been working on blending acrylic colors better. What do you guys think?

Drawing anthropomorphs doesn't make you a upstanding member of society and it certainly doesn't link you to any kind of upstanding member of society subculture.

You shouldn't let a subculture stop you from drawing anthropomorphs or writing stories about them - if you worry too much about what fetishists are going to do with your work you'll end up not doing anything.

You can simplify the design of anything to make it quicker/easier to draw, though you've already committed yourself to a certain drawing style which doesn't lend itself toward simplification of technological components - and you can't go making design overhauls in the middle of a story you're illustrating.

Here I thought the latest comment was going to be something helpful and/or interesting.

Angelic, your technique is pleasant, but in my opinion it would look better with more contrast. Push the dark areas darker! Also, experimenting with different line widths could make your drawings look even nicer.

@Angelic: I agree with Cori. You'll also be able to better see how effective your technique is with high contrasts. I think it'd be a neat style to explore.

@DND: Yeah, we're sticking with it now. I'll just have to get better at drawing.
My friend and I were upstanding members of society I guess, at one stage. At least, we did anthro art and it was fun. But then we met more of the community we were essentially drawing for. Turns out that there's a difference between an anthro artist and those who live a upstanding member of society life style.

That aside, my friend and I are very concious of certain conventions that we wanted to avoid. Wanted to avoid having heaps of wolves, foxes and tigers for one thing.
We didn't want a cast full of sexy critter's. We noticed a lot of people would draw anthro's with full rippling muscles even though realistically it would be hidden by fur or scales or whatever. (Mainly because it's their self empowerment fantasy persona).
Also didn't characterise characters by critter. Eg, timid rabbits, sly foxes, sleepy sloths.

I guess being so concious of everything we were doing all the time, it was hard not to resent the reasons why.

Also. We don't have to hate each other, D. It's the people I know who are friends of my friends that I find appalling.
