A thing I have been working on for about ten days
This is my lore-master in Lotro. The design is not mine.
At first it was supposed to be a lot less detailed (like the background), but I wanted to get better at Inkscape so I added some details. The staff alone probably took more time than everything else.
In my Art & Chemistry class our teachers decided to have us all experiment with fresco. None of us really knew what were were doing, including the teachers (though they spent weeks trying to figure out how to get it perfect before we did the project), so everyone's tiles cracked rather badly. But I took a picture of my fresco before it got a chance to fall apart, so here, have a PEAFOWL:
[8:18:42 AM] Joh Terraem: Cori, I've always found your encyclopedic knowledge of dicks to be quite charming and repulsive at the same time
Both WIP.
Tried to color/shade differently than usual.
I'm depressed as hell so I really doubt they will ever be finished.
(I'll resize if they are too big.)
Test materials: 1 x D-class personnel, 1 x wooden desk.
wow youve really improved since i last noticed your art. never commented before cuz i thought it was crap but youve got stellar linework goin on now. keep it up
Skeleton, I don't know how serious you want to be about art, but I'm going to unload a few pointers either way:
First, I would say that, while you're drawing quality isn't terrible, it it is far from excellent. I would suggest doing studies from real life figures. There's nothing wrong with a cartoony style, but looking at you're comic it's clear you are inexperienced, mostly because Link looks really stiff. If you're just doing this to goof off and you think it might be a project you drop in a few months time, then I would worry about it too much. But if you really want to learn to draw, then learn to draw people and objects first, than cartoons.
Second, Your text isn't terrible, but it is a bit small and hard to read. Maybe increase the character spacing on it if possible and switch to an off-white color.
Also, you should probably put in backgrounds of some sort. Even if this is a sort-lived project (not to imply that it is), just making the background a different color might improve things a bit. Here, for instance, the absolute minimum might be to make a dark red background, because then Link would stand out because red makes green pop and vise versa. Learn some color complements and apply them to make the comic more visually appealing. But don't just throw random colors around either because that would look terrible.
On the other hand, while the writing isn't fantastic it is actually pretty decent for an amateur work. It isn't very wordy and it's pretty quick and to the point. It is somewhat generic but that mostly has to do with it being gamer humor and sorta comes with the trade to a degree. It could have much more pizzazz but a lot of that has to do with taking advantage of the medium, which I don't know too much about, and drawing ability, which I already talked about.
