Bit of an overreaction, Lolita, considering we moved to Taboo Topics hours ago. You could have just deleted CN's post and been done with it instead of locking the whole daisies topic when nothing actually happened.

I really hope you never become a moderator. Ever. Shutting something down because you don't agree with the topic and no other reason is the definition of tyranny.

I don't think this situation was handled correctly. I think that an invalid excuse was made to shut down a good thread, considering the reason given never actually happened outside of Taboo Topics where it belongs. This thread is for feedback about moderator actions and so I'm giving my feedback.

I could kinda see shutting it for the fact that there's a good amount of "haha, look at these neckbeards/social justice idiots/weirdos, let's laugh at them", and it's been kinda addressed by proletariats before, but I think there needs to be more focus on actively discouraging that than letting it fester until we need to do a thread locking or purge.

There's been times where I've kinda wanted to step in on some things being said but it wasn't really my place to and I was sure the response would be "humor is subjective" like the funny pictures thread gets (though that rarely gets to the level of awful of text screencaps), but I also wasn't sure whether proletariats would feel that the report would be petty (like complaining about jokes you don't like, petty).

If this stuff absolutely isn't acceptable, we need guidelines in the thread like "no baiting subjects and no "look how stupid this group I hate is"" and active enforcement by both members and proletariats.

We did this with the health thread, we can certainly do it with the text screencaps thread.

Also, I think we also need to address derailing arguments on certain threads, like the recent one on the pop flyin' thread. It's really weird and kinda offputting to post something in a thread like that and then come back the next day and see people arguing about how the video game you were talking about was a piece of crap, or how mexico is a terrible country that no one should go to. It's kind of like an unwarranted opinion, and it's kinda rude to see in response to another person's post. Like, if their post reminded you that mexico is a terrible country, I think you should take it to another thread before saying anything negative, especially in the pop flyin' thread.

It's not that the discussion is bad, but it's just the placement of the discussion that leaves a bad taste in your mouth. It's like if someone announced they were pregnant and the next person posts that they hate babies because the above post reminded them of that.

that whole thing was basically the straw that broke the camel's back in a sense. i noticed the thread was basically just amounting to "HURR LOOK AT THESE DUMB PEOPLE LOOK HOW DUMB THEY ARE" and it's just like. that's kind of like. bullying?? and being an asshole?? like i know the people will probably never see if but poking fun at people who probably have legitimate mental issues is not really a-okay regardless of how pretentious or neurotic they sound.

and the thing is that whole pedophiliac discussion shouldn't have even been in text screencaps to begin with. i'm glad you moved it to taboo but it should have STARTED and only BEEN in taboo.

and the thread was only locked because i thought it would be the best thing to do at the time. it was my complete jurisdiction, and i was unable to discuss it with any other proletariats because nobody is on. i don't know if it'll last, but i just felt like it would be a good idea to shut it down, even for a bit.

Guess that makes sense, though generally a thread lock is to halt something that's currently going, like a fight or somesuch where it's active. CS's post was several hours after the fact, so I don't think locking the thread was necessary.

That's just my feedback. I will also admit to some strange amusement at the realization that the thread began and ended by your hand. Whether it's permanent or not will be seen.
