Yeah, Kingdom Hearts is really a series you want to play chronologically, because otherwise you won't understand shit (or even less) and be confronted with some gameplay elements that they fixed quite nicely.

Kingdom Hearts tends to be a pretty great experience for me in general. KH:3D was a great prelude for whatever comes next: Everyone dies.

Pretty much the only thing I really miss in Pokemon games is the ability to customize your trainer.
