With the Granny it's easy to confirm her role. Go visit her at night. If the person dies, that's Granny or some clever Mafia. Of course, if you then lynch the claimed Granny, because she's both immortal and useless once the role is revealed, then you either get a Mafia or someone who doesn't matter...
