Re: The Current Events Thread
Yesterday, a train full of oil exploded in the middle of Lac-Mégantic, Qc. Surrounding buildings were completely destroyed, around 40 people are dead. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Gl49CpPQtc For the love of everything don't read the comments Railroads go right through my own town. A few weeks ago...

Re: The Current Events Thread
To be more accurate, she said that "Muslims praying in the streets" was like "a form of occupation", she didn't mention Nazis. However, she did compare the EU to the Soviets. The article I read said l' O ccupation . I thought that meant WWII. Maybe it's wrong though. The same party has some scary r...

Re: The Current Events Thread
Speaking of EU Marine Le Pen, the batshit leader of the main far right party in France (Front National), just got her European parliament immunity revoked because she compared letting muslims pray in the streets to being occupied by the Nazis. Following the ruling, she compared the jury to Soviets f...

Re: All topics unimportant enough to not create a thread for
Is webp significantly different from APNG? In terms of possibilities, not really. In terms of quality and file size, I'd say webp wins, since apng is only a modified png (they even share the same extension). But apng barely ever got any support, currently I'd say webp is already supported by more a...

That (and anything saved as a gif) doesn't allow for opacity levels. Gif only toggles opacity, png has 256 levels. (Unless it's 128? I'm assuming it's given as much bandwidth as colors) 256 it is. Gif can also only contain up to 256 different colors, so you can't have gradients and smooth edges and...

Re: All topics unimportant enough to not create a thread for
Ugh, how do you make it to where images have transparent backgrounds? First, you need an application that can handle alpha channels (Photoshop, Gimp, probably Paint.net). Second, your images have to be saved as .png (there are other formats that support transparency but they either have downsides o...

A few days ago I ordered some DVDs online, and I just received the shipping confirmation. It was shipped to my mother's address even though I told Paypal to use my father's. Which means my mother will have to acknowledge my existence and possibly interact with me in some way. ABORT ABORT ABORT

Re: Things that piss you off
My father decided I was cold in the basement even though I told him I was not so he put a dehumidifier right next to my bed so now I can't listen to music or anything because of the noise. It's always the same. He decides how I feel about something without asking me or without listening to me, appli...
