The same happened to me, both in singleplayer and multiplayer.
It worked for a friend yesterday, but it stopped working now, too. I guess it'll be fixed soon.

Well, Europe gets the same events at different dates, as far as I know. Since 2007, the US have had 16 events for the NDS versions. Germany has had 6.
