In the strict sense, it's still a fighting game! In the same sense that TeamFortress2 is still a FPS despite the majority of its weapons not being straight-foward guns! It's different from the others, yes, but still fits squarely into the genre anyway.

No, I mean that, well, look at other entertainment mediums. Video games, shows, movies. They all have multiple writers. And it works, it works brilliantly!
