Re: Thank you for 8 years!

AZ was a formative experience for me during my latter high school and early college years. This is gonna sound pretentious, but cutting my teeth talking and arguing in a real forum like this with real rules gave me a level of grounding and humility that's enabled me to join other communities and mak...

Re: What makes you pop flyin'?

I got a new pair of shoes that I'm starting to finally get used to. I've been wearing my previous two pair for about 3 years now, I think, so any other ones are of course going to feel weird. But now they're finally at a decent comfort level, and will only feel better with time.

Re: All topics unimportant enough to not create a thread for

Holidays have been great so far. Got a Switch & Smash Ultimate as my big gift for Christmas alongside some comfy socks and clothes. Been out to several restaurants for family get-togethers as well as to spend time with longtime friends. Gonna spend New Years Eve with my friends as well. Before that ...

Re: General Game Gabbin'

Epic has launched their new game store. It already has a good bit of developers lining up to make their games exclusive to it. Hades from Supergiant and Super Meat Boy Forever (but only for a limited time) , alongside Rebel Galaxy Outlaw . There's been a lot of hand-wringing about how another storef...

Sunk 30 hours into it already. Still in low-rank, but having a blast. Longswords are the best, and the Odogaron set is the coolest-looking set in the game.

Re: The Current Events Thread

Despite just last year saying they were ready for a disaster level evacuation in Houston, local officials urged residents to shelter in place rather than evacuate even against state officials' wishes . And sadly the flooding is exactly what many scientists and local papers predicted with local offi...

Re: The Current Events Thread

I'm lucky enough to live in an area that hasn't flooded yet (so far). My friends and their families are doing well. One of my friends is a nurse and he's staying at the hospital until Thursday when he can hopefully be relieved and somebody can take his place. The Addicks and Barker Reservoirs are ha...

Re: The Current Events Thread

The protests and violence in Charlottesville last weekend have reignited the debate about free speech and its possible limits. If this were a couple of years ago I would side with the free speech hardliners who constantly trot out the same “I don’t like what you have to say but I’ll defend your righ...

Re: The Current Events Thread

An article examines the amount of electricity utilized by cryptocurrency mining. The electricity that Bitcoin alone consumes is 27 times that of Visa, a more classic financial company. Over time, as cryptocurrencies have failed to gain widespread and mainstream usage (even in an age where entrepren...

Re: The Current Events Thread

A Canadian Supreme Court decision has wide-ranging implications for free speech online. The Supreme Court of Canada ruled 7-2 that Google has to de-index a website from its search results worldwide. This contributes to the troubling issue of how other countries want to be able to control the flow o...

Re: E3 2017

After my Wii started gathering dust, I made it a point to only buy a Nintendo console if they finally made another Metroid game for it. Needless to say I don't own a Wii U, but it looks like I'm buying a Switch. Gonna hafta get that New 2DS XL for the Metroid 2 remake as well. My original 3DS XL is ...

Re: E3 2017

Xbox did well, I feel. -Name is a bit awkward, but it's better than the "Xbox 10 S" that I saw a couple of sites predicting -Pricing at $499 was the mainline thought among the news sites and business commentators, and it was correct. Seems appropriate given the power in it. Definitely better than th...

Re: E3 2017

EA's press conference could've been better, but it wasn't a disaster. -Leveraging eSports stuff, Twitch streamers, and YouTube influencers doesn't make for the best show of Battlefield 1. -I'm not averse to them showing off their sports titles, because those sell well and are an important product in...
