To Reyo:
Nope, nope, nope, and nope. I don't want any "hard" roles this game, only ones that act by influence.

i dont get how the hooker or doctor are harder than anonymous message roles, which i still dont udnerstand the point of? what do they do? i mean, i get what they DO, but... why?

Re: Not Quite Sick Of Mafia Yet Mafia SIGNUPS
If the doctor manages to survive until near the end of the game, there's potential for shenanigans as the mafia tries to knock off the last villager and the villager tries to kill the last mafia while the doctor is stressed beyond belief over saving both himself and the villager. The hooker because why the hell not.

Re: Not Quite Sick Of Mafia Yet Mafia SIGNUPS
well that doesnt answer my question as to how anonymous messages are useful...

Re: Not Quite Sick Of Mafia Yet Mafia SIGNUPS
Bandwagons started by the Crier can't be dismissed as "guys don't you see the mafia are trying to set me up". Not sure about the other one. Except to maybe cause confusion to the mafia players by giving them conflicting information.

Re: Not Quite Sick Of Mafia Yet Mafia SIGNUPS
i dont see the point of the agent though? all the information the agent has will be whatever is in the thread. which the mafia can read. so i don't see the point in the mafia receiving messages from a townie

Re: Not Quite Sick Of Mafia Yet Mafia SIGNUPS
Like if the Crier were to tell everyone through spam that bandwagoning me were a good idea and the Agent told the Mafia that bandwagoning you were the plan, the Mafia would have received two plans for who to go after. Effectively meaning that they can't start the vote on either party until town goes with the plan the Crier laid out.
Re: Not Quite Sick Of Mafia Yet Mafia SIGNUPS
As much as I love good old fashioned trial and error, I have to say you've successfully planted the curiosity in this...I know the point of the game was to not have an investigating party, but what if we had one, who then gets in direct contact with the crier, who would then influence the people? That might relieve some of the stress of "oh well he's just claiming to be a cop to save his booty". The agent might be able to just put his two cents in on matters such as villager roles and actions, though that would end up making them some weird, 3rd party mafia aficionado. It would make much more sense if that agent was able to look into the actions of the mafia and then relay it to the town crier, a drawback being that the agent is never allowed to reveal that he is the agent (for obvious reasons) where it can only ever come to light (legally) if the town lynches the guy, or the crier reveals the guy's identity (which would be a really bad idea). The spy actually makes a lot of sense, giving the villagers a run of which message is from the crier, and which from the spy, assuming they're both anonymous. Point is, I kind of have to agree in questioning the effect the agent is supposed to have aside from whispering sweet nothings to the mafia. Seems like it would just be added noise to the mafia who would pass it off as the ramblings of a normie who's not in it for their cause, unless those sweet nothings are things like who should or should not be killed off to which I have to ask how they'd know, and why they wouldn't just be considered a mafia role from the start.
EDIT: To be honest were I the Agent, I'd be reduced to sending nonsensical ramblings like "the crow caws at dinner time", though I can't do it now since they'd know it was me and just pick me off like an easy target.

Okay so
My dad is being a petty little bitch and confiscated my computer (I found it and am using it right now but that is besides the point), so I don't know if I'll be able to participate in this game after all. I'll have to stay tuned and see.

i am so confused about anon messages
[5:06:23 PM] Yeili: this is kind of cool, i've beaten a murderer in mario party.

Re: Not Quite Sick Of Mafia Yet Mafia SIGNUPS
I'm guessing you could send a message to the entire town saying Let's not lynch y.
Then you say let's lynch y
Whoever goes along is mafia because they didn't get the message....
I think?

Again: every single player sees the message from the town crier. I might remove the Agent and replace him with someone else, but I'm not on a computer right now.

Re: Not Quite Sick Of Mafia Yet Mafia SIGNUPS
You know what, if signups are still open, sign me up. I like the anonymous message idea. When people get a message does the message say it's from the Crier, Agent, or Spy, or is it just "You heard somebody say "butts""?
I can tell the anonymous messages will be useful for the Agent, if they're really really suspicious of someone but they don't want to be focused my the mafia, they can send an anoymous message to convince everyone they're guilty without telling the mafia who they are.
Of course the mafia has that same power, to turn the town's suspicions on themselves without looking guilty.
Honestly if this mafia had a theme to it, messages would be totally hilarious. But no theme is good too, keeps things simple.
