A Non-Biased Minecraft Review
Re: A Non-Biased Minecraft Review
Compare Minecraft to 3D Dot Heroes and say it isn't ugly.
100% Medically Accurate

Re: A Non-Biased Minecraft Review
Yeah, no, it's not ugly at all.
The problem I see with Minecraft's graphics is that they don't look very refined; they are, after all, made by a coder instead of an artist. Pixel's achievement with Cave Story is surprising in part because it looks great; it's otherwise to be expected that a game with art primarily done by the programmer will sort of look like shit.
Not that Minecraft does look like shit, but it could look a lot better if it had a better artist behind the textures.
EDIt: Wow okay I'm fucking blind why did I think you said Cave Story
yeah Minecraft is pretty ugly, totally agree there.

Re: A Non-Biased Minecraft Review
I never saw the point of complaining about Minecraft's graphics. If you hate them that much, go download a texture pack. I don't mind the graphics at all. I kinda like them, mainly cause I'm sick of the super realism that has flooded the market.

Re: A Non-Biased Minecraft Review
I see no point in complaining about flaws when someone else can just fix them for the developer
I know, to save on time they should just release games with blank textures and let people fill them in how they want

Never said that my judging of a game was good, thus I am not a game reviewer. I know most people would not care for my reason for liking some kinds of games.

It's cool.
I can see why people could be bugged my minecraft's graphics. I'm just not one of them.

Re: A Non-Biased Minecraft Review
I actualy got minecraft for that reason, the third part support.
I didn't like Minecraft for it's....minecraftyness, I liked it because of all the proletariats I could download and fuck around with. Vanilla is ugly as shit, but I do prefer it sometimes, and after a while, once you've completed your personal goals, the game gets pretty boring, I don't agree on the multiplayer bit though, it's fun interacting with other people in a sandbox, fucking them over, or helping them do stuff(And then fucking them over). The review, while it is honest, to me seems a tad bit biased against Notch.

Re: A Non-Biased Minecraft Review
The problem I have with the review is that he decides to make fun of the fanbase and the developers. That has nothing to do with the game.
About the graphics: they were programmed in Java, which is a pretty tough language. I mean, look at RuneScape. It took them years to get RuneScape to the graphical level it has now, and that was a dedicated team. Minecraft was programmed by one guy; and now that Mojang has a team, said team is probably going to be focused on adding new features right now rather than updating the graphics.

Re: A Non-Biased Minecraft Review
If a reviewer refers to the fanbase as 'autistic' it is not a good review.

Re: A Non-Biased Minecraft Review
he states that the gameplay does not go beyond it's controls, completely ignoring the entire creative part of minecraft. he then dismisses people who create things with minecraft as autistic. this means he doesn't really dismiss minecraft as having "NO GAMEPLAY" unless you count a broad insult to at least a million people who play minecraft a valid pointAme no Akai wrote:Why? I understand it's not a good thing, and I don't agree with it, but it doesn't nullify any of the other points he makes.Bacon wrote:If a reviewer refers to the fanbase as 'autistic' it is not a good review.

WELL! When you make a 1:1 scale model of the enterprise....or a computer made out of redstone....

Those are just two examples, Kev. Two people cannot be compared to millions of others.

Re: A Non-Biased Minecraft Review
I've seen TONS of things like this, I was just giving examples, no not everyone that builds stuff is autistic but hell would YOU build something like that.

Re: A Non-Biased Minecraft Review
my current project in the server i go on is building a village on a series of floating islands. The village is called WatchTown because its built around the idea of a city where the people keep watch on the lands below. It's been pretty fun.

Re: A Non-Biased Minecraft Review
I agree that Minecraft is fun and creative, but I think that this shouldn't be the final version of it.
It would be nice if it was still like the beta, continuing to be patched and upgraded.
Now I'm just a little sad that the official game isn't being updated excluding third party stuffs, dood.
