The Awesome Life - A Text-Based Forum Adventure

Post by Sol Reaper »

Alright chums and chumps, if you don't know how this goes down, lemme sprinkle little droplets of knowledge over your evening meal. I am your narrator (Game Master, if you were playing DnD) and I will be driving this story. Basically I will lay out a scenario for you, and it's your duty as the collective hivemind of Chatterbox to figure out what to do next. Some of these kinds of games have multiple choice answers. NOT THIS ONE. I will take into account the first few responses to the scenario and use the one that makes the most sense/is the least trolling in the next scenario. This is a laid-back adventure, humorous replies are allowed and encouraged. I trust that you know the limits from "humorous" to "Just plain retarded", however, so I won't waste your time on laying that out.

In the course of the game, we might come to some violence or other "luck of the draw" scenarios. In this case, I'll roll a 1d100 using this to determine how effective the "lucky action" is.
1-25 = You must be completely retarded
26-50 = Could've done better, but it works
51-75 = That was pretty effective, there's hope for you yet
76-100 = DAYUM SON
There is no disputing a roll. You can appeal a re-roll, but only if two other people second your motion.

Without further ado, let us begin.
The Scenario wrote: "Man, this is going to be a FREAKIN' AWESOME day!" you think to yourself as you wake up. You have a mild throb in your head, but you pass it off as the effects of last night's party. You throw off the blankets and do a barrel roll off your bed onto the floor. Thinking that wasn't the best idea, you get up to your feet and look in the small mirror by your bed. It's cracked a bit, but you can just barely make out your gender. Which is.. what, again? That party must have been something special to blank your memory like that. Come to think of it, you can't remember your name either! Close your eyes and try to remember.

I guess we have amnesia, and are on the verge of blindness since we can't even tell which gender we are in the mirror.

(I'm really only posting so I can follow this and contribute later)

I've got some form of explanation for why you can't remember it. But that comes later. Mostly it was to have an "IC" reason to ask your name and gender.

So far two votes male, two votes female. One more for the tiebreaker.

The Scenario wrote: Aha! That's right! Your name is Faura Barnes, and you're quite the specimen of femininity. Now that you have that settled, you decide to get out of bed, still in your pajamas. You look at your closet and ponder changing, but that can wait until after breakfast. Breakfast sandwiches this time. It seems your best day ever is getting better and better. But.. your mother usually never cooks. "What's the special occasion?" you wonder. And then you remember! It's your birthday today! Turning 18 sure does feel good. "And it tastes good too," you muse after sitting down and taking a bite of your sandwich. Your dad looks at you over the newspaper and grins, the light shining off his glasses. "So how does it feel to be eighteen years old, sweetie?" he asks before taking a sip of his coffee.

It feels like shit because now I'm expected to be responsible.

this but without any positives. because obviously 18 year olds aren't responsible enough for the good things in life, only the less fun things.

The Scenario wrote: "It feels like shit, dad!" you yell angrily. Your dad looks taken aback at your random outburst. "I don't get to be irresponsible any more.." you pout. Your dad looks halfway between a smirk and an angry frown. It seems like he's trying to decide whether you're playing another joke. Before he can figure it out, you finish your sandwich and decide to do something. What do you do?
