It's not illegal, per say. It's really all about size of the blade and intent. I think it's something along the lines of a blade any bigger than 5 inches could be considered a weapons charge, but for the most part, they'll look the other way provided you aren't carrying that knife for the sole intent of harming another person. That's more or less how it works in NY, I believe.Vaxidd8 wrote:Well yeah it's the same deal here I think
But I'd rather have it and just keep it hidden than not have it at all I guess.

The legal limit is 5 inches for a foldable blade, and 12 (I think) for a fixed blade. everything over that is considered a weapon and needs to be out of public sight.

That's not a small blade. It almost seems like a fixed blade would have be be shorter or something, because it's easier to pull on someone.Stranaton wrote:The legal limit is 5 inches for a foldable blade, and 12 (I think) for a fixed blade. everything over that is considered a weapon and needs to be out of public sight.

California it is illegal to carry any kind of knife or dirk on your person or in your car.
However, it is perfectly legal to own and carry a sword or axe in public. Just stay away from federal buildings.

Re: Ego's Engaging and Exciting Extravaganza of Edges
just checked, under 4 inches for carry blades in NY.
also, there is a specific law saying you can't own a cane sword in NY state. I guessing the Mafia brought that into the spotlight.

also, any ownership of a knife is assumed to to owned for unlawful intent (I.E. new york thinks everyone who owns a knife bought it to shank people)

It is so disappointing going to the blades area of Renn. fairs and other places to see canes, getting your hopes up, then finding out there are no blades attached to the canes. But they're hollow and blade-shaped, so you know what they were destined to be.

I've got a cane sword, but it's some crappy dull thing I bought at Universal Studios, so it's not ever meant to see serious use. The "blade" is just a hunk of unpolished metal.
The cane itself looks badass, though.

Now THIS is a knife

I've seen this thing go to town on some coconuts but it's never really used much anymore and I'm pretty sure the blade got dull. Also it make a "SHING" noise when you unsheath it which is awesome.

That things looks like it could probably take off an arm. Very nice.
I've got a few more things I want to show off but I'm kind of stuck waiting on my new camera to arrive in the mail. As soon as that comes in, I can get some new pictures up.

If you're complaining about a dull blade, go sharpen the bitch.
Not like you need to own a whetstone or anything, but c'mon.
