And just who the blazes would that be?

Stopping every now and then to make sure you're keeping up, Clefairy leads the way, its small legs propelling it forward at a surprisingly fast pace. As you follow it deeper into the cave, you begin to hear the sound of flapping wings. Turning around, Clefairy holds one finger to its lips before continuing.
Squeaking and rustling noises fill the air as Clefairy leads the two of you down a ladder, into a large, open cavern. The first thing that hits you is the overpowering smell. The filthy, abhorrent stench fills the air, clogging your lungs and making it difficult to breath. The next thing is sight. Thick stalagmites line the bone-covered floor, rising like giant fangs into the air. Turning your gaze upwards, you spot the source of all the ruckus.
Bats. The ceiling is covered by a upstanding member of society blanket of Zubat, jostling and fighting with each other. Mixed in with their smaller brethren, several Golbat sleep soundly, their wings folded over their massive, gaping jaws. And at the back of the cavern, lying on her side and facing away from you, is Misty.
Clefairy and Blaziken remain behind as, quietly, you pick your way through the scattered remains, repressing a shudder as you notice that more than a few of them are human. Stepping over a skull and in between two ribs, you arrive at Misty's side. Kneeling down, you gently shake her, whispering urgently in her ear.
She doesn't respond. Rolling her onto her back, you spot two thick puncture wounds in the side of her neck. Her face is pale, bloodless. You feel for a pulse, but her skin is cold to touch and there's no heartbeat. Swallowing the lump in your throat, you slide your arms underneath her shoulders and hips and gently lift up. Holding her surprisingly light body and taking a deep breath, you set off, carefully walking back across the cavern.
Crack.
The bone shatters underneath your foot, the sound echoing through the cavern. Above you, the squeaking and rustling stops, replaced by a flurry of flapping wings. Throwing caution to the wind, you dash across the room, bones snapping under your feet with every step. Behind you, the flapping wings grow louder, the bats swooping down in pursuit. With a burst of speed, you bridge the gap between you and the others, depositing Misty into Blaziken's waiting arms.
With a single bound, Blaziken clears the ladder, Clefairy following close behind. Grabbing the metail rails, you pull yourself up, the bats closing in at an incredible pace. As you grasp the top rung, you feel a stabbing pain in your back as two icy fangs pierce your flesh. Smashing your elbow into its face, you knock the Golbat off, scaling the final few rungs in a desperate burst.
As Blaziken helps you to your feet, a whoosh of air passes overhead as the bats burst through the cavern entrance. Wordlessly, Blaziken proffers Misty's limp body, stepping in front as you take her from his arms. Taking a deep breath, he bellows a scorching blast of flame into the heart of the swarm, burning and incinerating hundreds of them. Pausing only a moment for another breath, he blasts another pillar of fire into the flapping horde, not stopping until every last Zubat is charred to ashes.
Wobbling on his feet for a moment, Blaziken pants in exhaustion, responding to your thanks with only a nod. After a moment's rest, he straightens, ready to go. Clefairy lightly bounds into the air, hovering above Misty's face for a moment before descending to the ground and motioning for you to follow.
Don't die, Misty. Please don't die.
For what seems like an eternity, you follow Clefairy through the winding tunnels and caves, until you see the pale light of the moon, shining softly into the cavern from outside. Quickly following Clefairy through the exit, you find yourself on a large plateau, filled to the brim with other Clefairy, all dancing around a massive grey rock in the center. As you step towards them, the dancing abruptly stops, their attention caught by the stranger in their midst.
Clefairy, walking forward, speaks with the others; a rapid "Cle cle fairy cle fairy cle!" Pointing at you, it continues, "Fairy cle cle fairy cle fairy cle."
The others turn their gaze to you for a moment before looking back to it and nodding in unison. With quick, light steps, they form a ring around you, slowly rotating clockwise. As one, they begin to sing, their soft, clear voices rising and falling in perfect harmony. As the song continues, they begin to rotate faster, a soft golden glow coming from their bodies. The song grows louder, stronger, the glow becoming brighter and more lustrous until it detaches from their bodies, hovering through the air. With a feeling of wonder, you watch the glow flow into Misty's body, imbuing her with a lustrous golden aura.
As you watch in awe, the wounds on her neck close, a flush comes back into her cheeks, and her chest begins to slowly rise and fall. Slowly, the glow begins to fade, growing dimmer until not even a sparkle remains. Looking up, you open your mouth to thank the Clefairy, only to find them wobbling on their feet and collapsing from exhaustion.
Quietly, you whisper "Thank you."
You feel something tugging your pants leg. Looking down, you see the Clefairy that led you here, smiling. With a few bouncing steps, it skips away, motioning once again for you to follow. Back through the tunnels it leads you, through the caverns, up and down, until finally, when your arms are burning from carrying Misty and you feel like you can't walk one more step, you see moonlight shining through the exitway.
Smiling, you once again thank Clefairy for everything it's done, before stepping out into the night air. To your surprise, you see a Pokemon Center only a few yards away. Summoning the last of your strength, you pick up your feet and trudge onward. As Blaziken opens the door, you step inside, greeted by Nurse Joy's gasp of surprise. She rushes over, barraging you with questions while taking Misty's weight from your arms.
"Are you alright? How did this happen? You didn't go into the mountain, did you?"
You manage to mutter "Yes." before your eyes close and everything goes black.
Slowly, you open your eyes, blinking at the sunlight streaming in through a window. Looking around, you see Blaziken asleep in the corner, arms folded across his chest. Clefairy peeps over the edge of your bed, giving you a cheery greeting.
"You're still here, little fellow?"
Clefairy happily nods.
Stretching and yawning, you pull the covers off and get out of bed, rubbing your eyes sleepily. Noticing your backpack sitting on a desk, you sling it over your shoulder. Looking under the bed, you locate your shoes, which you quickly slip on. As you lace them up, you hear two voices arguing outside your room, one gruff, one soft.
"I'm telling you, I've got to find him!"
"And I'm telling you, nobody who matches that description passed through here!"
You recognize the soft voice as Nurse Joy's. The other one...
Opening the door, you walk into the hallway outside. Startled, Nurse Joy turns around, looking at you in irritation. In front of her, Surge grins and cracks his knuckles.
"Just the man I was looking for. It's good to see you, kid!"
Oh, great. Now what?
